It's time to re-align - Football club first, business second, not the reverse

We have no defensive midfield, so its all or nothing attack or defend around our box and has been this way for seasons now. Most of the time no ones cares much as we get away with it in the comparatively low standard SPFL.
BR was eventually not blind to it and wanted McGinn, just hope Lenny knows the flaw we have or sees it soon or gets banned to the stands where he last claimed he saw things he missed pitch-side.
Ntcham is not the answer not only does he not really want to be here, he is too casual laid back and unreliable for a genuine terrier defensive midfield.

Anyone who thinks that we have a capable defensive midfield, then watch next game against any half decent tactical side who will know they can put 2 or even 3 on Broony in midfield, no team does that unless they spot a real flaw. even sevco spotted it and nulled our game.
just put 2 of their rats on Broony, freed the wings for attack

Take a look at the 3 -3 equalizer, hard to watch an aging Broony who is playing as a totally isolated sweeper trying to cover both sides of the pitch,
from 1.45 get ready to pause it and watch how we have no second line of defense, no midfield bar broony.
and witness the all too often casual Ntcham strolling around covering no one and nothing in his own time.

Our defense is not the main problem it is midfield, we have must Broony plus around 9 attacking midfielders.
Conventional wisdom used to suggest that of the 10 outfield players on the park, 5 would have attacking responsibilities and 5 would have defensive duties.

That would alter for defending or attacking set-pieces, and it would also alter depending on if you were chasing the game or hanging on deep in the game.

Celtic were effectively defending with 3 and-a-half players last night. CalMac was out of his depth. Broony was way off the pace. Hatem was bombing on (although he did alright).

I can't think of a time when Cluj carved us open. They capitalised on us switching off, being all over the place and having catastrofucks of our own making.

Even when we had the grip of the game, indiscipline and poor decision making cost us dearly.

That game wasn't lost, it was gift wrapped and presented to them.

That was their whole game plan. They didn't even expect it to work. They simply thought it would be their only opportunity. Force errors and react to unforced errors. When they got them they were clinical to be fair, but still.

definitely threw the game away.

they effectively carved us open for the 3 -3 with a simple ball over the head and no one able to get close as no communicated lines of defence.
Lenny called tactics wrong and some selections.
Despite what he claims, the players don't just decide from the first half to be defensive ay home, he did not get the mindset right, something however that was a feature when ever Broony started alongside ntcham under BR.

Right winger striker, I never played midfield or would know how to coach so words and descriptions are likely not great sense, in summary what I see all too often is very big gaps across our midfield, lots of space that you would not see in credible top sides in Europe.

reading between the lines it looks like that he is wanting another right wing back. so he can go 3 at the back with Elhamed, and 2 wing backs, that would likely suit us better as Elhamed is quick to get out and assist midfield moves.

Real shame last night, On the plus side we would never have won it and unlikely to have seen a cent go into the squad anyway.

aye,painful reading Andy!

Unfortunately it's likely to be just that, the writer is rather well connected. Beggars belief

Gobsmacking negligence from a board of so called expert businessmen, fucking outrageous!

It's one thing to know there were difficulties behind the scenes but this......this is on a whole other level! Where the fuck is Dermot Desmond in all of this? If this was one of his other business ventures do you think for a second he would stand for this fucking nonsense? Would he fuck!

Genuinely astounded by this :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Andy, one of the things that never ceases to amaze me is the amount of reportedly fiscally-astute professionals who make a complete cock-up of running a football club.

I'm not even aiming this at our board, I'm talking across the whole spectrum of football.

I guess for these competent parties, it's much easier to go all in with other people's money, especially if that money is petrodollars or funded by oligarchs.

Our problem is that Peter and the pennies are not easily parted. I guess in certain areas that that's a blessing, but it's also more than fair to say that it is beyond a curse when it comes to the field of play.

I'm always slightly sceptical of the inside sources, but Peter can go a long, long way towards dismissing any speculation by addressing this matter publicly.

That would be a good starting point.?

I'm not surprised at the fact that 'businessmen' in any field can royally balls things up whether it's due to greed, lust for power, incompetence or operating above their skill set SP (see 2008 financiers for example) what I'm surprised at is the fact that for all the criticism that's been aimed at Lawell and the board over the years, some of it deserved some of it not, their one saving grace was they were supposed to be running a competent professional operation......this paints a picture of anything but!

I did ask Niall if this was genuine as it could just as easily be baseless hearsay but he seems to think it comes from a reliable source. It would explain a lot though.
