The Irishman

Bitterly disappointed - watched the first 40 odd minutes and I was continually distracted by the appalling idea of trying to tell a story set over decades using great actors like De Niro , Pesci in third rate make-up and wigs to make them look like their younger selves .
The story/ film have worked better by having the younger parts played by other actors . Pesci and De Niro are both 76 years old - putting them in a wig does not make them look younger , only foolish .

In the movies you have to suspend belief at times - but there was no way I could look at these great actors and see anything other than old men dressed up to look 40 years younger - and failing miserably !
I honestly do not understand what Scorsese thought he was achieving by going down this route .

Perhaps I am being over critical but I love Scorsese's films and this was a huge disappointment .

Haven't seen it but my wee brother was hoping for Goodfellas and said he got a weird documentary about stuff that bored him.

I need to see it now.

the reviews online seem high

But I haven't met anybody (I know I only know 3 people these days) and they are my family :p, who have rated the film.

I watched silence by Scorcese and was disappointed.

But I think I want to see this movie now that my brother, good bit younger than me, said it was 4/10

The daily ranger and its sister paper the daily mail have both reported an interest from Juventus for a sevco regular,,well regularly 2 out of every 3 weeks I think..
£8 milllion is the fee being bandied about,,but Juventus are not the only team interested in him, there is talk of the mighty Leeds Utd showing interest..
This is the team who were offered the rat boy for £4 million but respectfully declined the offer..
I heard it was overly long.

Your brother called it right TET,no more than a 4/10, I would not fault any of the 3 brilliant actors, for me it was the story line, dragged on too long, especially when probably everybody who wants to see the film know,s what happened to Hoffa..
A wee snipet which might brighten things up a wee bit,,the musician Ed Sheeran is the great nephew of the gangster Frank Sheeran,..

Barry Mackay was a steal at 6 million for red bullocks

It was a very long film - it would have needed more than an hour cut out of it for a cinema release. Quite slow moving and I agree it would have been more reslistic having younger actors for the early years. Still it was worth seeing as some amazing actors, albeit well best their best, but not a patch on the classics Goodfellas or Casino.

The whole predictable typecasting of the actors, DeNiro trying to re-enact himself ala God2 and goodfellas all felt very clichéd and tired...the movie should have ended after the inevitable IMO.....5/10

It was a bit like watching one of those legends footballing fundraisers. Enjoyable and the shear class of the participants shining through but you can see they are past their prime. If you like Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino or Pesci (and who doesn't) then definitely give it a watch if you've plenty time.
