Rebel songs

That dreadful 'Roamin' chant was heard again last night, as It was at Firhill. An embarrassment and an insult to fellow Celtic Supporters who are not RC. Also vast majority of the squad aren't either. That and the Cheer Up song when it's sung are my two pet hates.

add the papa francesco song into that..we score a goal then sing that? baffling!! As i said before, was great for the moment in Rome after or win but just sounds shit now

As a long time lapsed Catholic I would be a hypocrite singing the first one, the cheer up song is an embarrassment and one I'll never sing unless Arlene Foster takes over from slippy. 😂

I consider myself Catholic but I wouldn't sing any hymns at game, never mind the weird ones that have been mentioned. I would add that I don't support Celtic cause their catholic, in fact I think there are a very small minority at games who actually ever go to church never mind mass, but I couldn't support a lot of other clubs who are anti catholic. I really couldn't care less what religion or none anybody else has but if somebody else wants to tell me why being catholic is evil or bad or retarded then I tend to get my back up. :p

I have no issue with anybody singing any song as long as it is justifiable. You want to sing about blowing things/people up then I think that's not football related. You want to sing about politics or historical injustice then feel free, you want to sing about your right to freedom thats OK, you want to sing songs about another persons creed or colour or gender with negativity then thats shaky ground.

I dont take offence if you dont like catholicism or any religion, thats your right in my book. But when you start dictating that someone has less rights for their race, creed or none, or politics (unless of course its politics that suppress someone else rights, aka being like Attila the hun) or philosophy then to me that would be sectarianism.

But the worry for me is the false claims of sectarianism that takes offence at non sectarian terms like hun and manipulates what it refers too then creates a false claim that that word refers to a religion or particular nation. It does not. Im pretty certain there are people of all races creeds who are so extreme that they fall foul of the hun mindset.

If someone wants to sing papa Francesco, and I cant really see why they would at a match, but if they did, I don't take offence but I wouldn't join in.

There are many historical oppression songs deemed rebel that I would join in with, but if your offended at a song that remembers a historical truth about injustice then its probably because you think that behaviour is allowed.

:p

'God bless the Pope' in The Soldiers' Song needs to go too.

But we’re together now who cares
North men, south men, Comrades all
Dublin, Galway, Cork and Donegal
We’re on the one road
Singing a song
Singing the soldiers song

ALTOGETHER NOW

Soldiers are we...

Each
The gospels were written between 60AD and 95AD

They were preached in oral form from the death and resurrection of Christ till present.

The bible was not created till sometime after 300AD at the commission of the Church hierarchy since so many individual writings that were not christian were claiming to be authentic.

St Matthew was an apostle
St Luke was a doctor, proper doctor and the disciple of St Paul (Saul of Tarsus- the once terror of the church converted on the road to Damascus by Christ himself while he was heading to find and murder Christians).
St Mark was the disciple of St Peter and the first Bishop of Egypt
St John was the beloved Apostle who looked after Christs mother from the time of the crucifixion.

All these things are easily researched.

St Polycarp of Smyrna and St Ignatius of Antioch, both murdered by the Romans in the early 100s ad were writing about the gospels with quotes in their letters to other Bishops.

Now the History channel hosts a whole series of non historical gash these days. And a lot of the gash it produces is sponsored by Zionist organisations which are mostly anti christian sponsors.

The Church sprung up in Apostolic form from the death of christ, thats easily found from Roman records.

Now whether that makes what they wrote true or not is another matter. But you would need to read it and relate it and relate to it to decide that.

The billions of years old, if true, and I have no clue, but if its true and time is relative, then maybe just maybe humanity only begun when humanity became human, whenever that might be.

Science has theories and share those theories and sometimes relative theories overrule past solid theories as understanding gets better.

But even in the scientific world there are some theories that never become anything more than theories and sometimes they are proven wrong by next generation then discarded

Scientific theories are no more than opinion backed by lots of empirical data.

But that needs a foundation to be fully data robust and unless we develop a reliable time machine the only thing they have is faith in their theories unless they are made scientific laws.

But you will find that Hawkins was sharing his theory (opinion based on his hard research) but there is no way that he ever said its factual, he just has faith in his theory.

Anyway hopefully ive given you some food for thought and a bit of research fever.

Whatever the truth is I wish you joy on your path.
Each to our own path as you so diplomatically put it.
When I put the History & Science channels to you it was to see if you had logical answers, that might convince me differently. Being brought up and being a practicing Catholic most of my life, being a Atheist has left a huge hole in my life.
Until science proved the shroud of Turin which was supposed to reflect the face of Jesus. However when they carbine dated it, it was only 1400 years old, which was the start of my search for the truth of the origin of man ect.
Ps TBH I wish I did still believe in a god the thot of seeing my parents again when I die was very comforting. My children are both very religious and I would never say anything to them that would spoil their thots of a life after life.
