If it turns out that Celtic should have 5 home games following the split, why would this not happen? Are there rules anywhere that give guidance on this? I havent been able to find anything on the SPFL site.

I could be wrong but I think the fixtures are dictated by each team having the same number of home and away fixtures across the season, not by playing each team an equal number of times home and away.
This does mean, then, that we'll end up playing a disproportionate number of away games against the top six teams and more home games against the fodder. Who could have predicted this anomaly, except anyone with a vague grasp of Scottish football?
