Health

Stopped the cigs on the 6th of January, had been cutting down since September last year. Used the vape tae help me cut down, was having a few joints at night time. Now just have a wee pipe(no tobacco) only time I miss not smoking is when I have a coffee, need tae watch the weight put on a few kgs but, I'm breathing better & not coughing up any muck. Plus saving ยฃ160 a week, smoked for nearly 40yrs.

Good Luck โ˜˜๏ธHHโ˜˜๏ธ

Did you ever listen to Lena Martell

I stopped smoking today and although day one is almost complete i canโ€™t stop thinking about a cigarette.

I am using the patches so am expecting nightmares tonight, a well known side effect.

Has anyone else stopped and remained stopped?

If so; do you have any tips to stop thinking about cigarettes coz this has not been easy today.

Any help gratefully received.
Ended up in hospital for four days and didn't smoke once. If I can do without a smoke for four days I can stop. That was four maybe five yrs ago. Apart from three wee lapses at the beginning I'm smoke free now.
good luck Frenchie.

Thanx Weedoc, thats great willpower too, respect.

Inspirational stuff. Non-smokers could never fully appreciate the strength required to stop.

Take my hat off to yโ€™all โœŠ๐Ÿ’š

When trying to stop I used to always promise myself one later and that calmed the desire then I'd realise that I'd went past the time I was going to have one.

I still vape and enjoy it and although folk say they aren't good for you they're miles better than cigs and if you're unable to have a vape because of work etc you don't get all nervous, twitchy and gasping the way you would for a fag. You can keep decreasing the nicotine level until you're on the nicotine free liquid and that's when you realise you don't need it.

I don't drink much but I drink even less now in case I want a cigarette along with it. Alcohol takes away all resolve as drinking and smoking usually go together in my own mind.

If you can do it cold turkey, good on you but the patches have some awful side-effects like the nightmares you mentioned. There are no easy answers and everyone has dealt with it in different ways but no one ever stops unless they really want to.

Sick of smoking and the smell of it lingers.

Yes benefits are huge. โœŠ๐Ÿ’š

Apparently nicotine is one of the worst drugs to come off of but that doesn't mean to say that it can't be done. The tobacco plant is supposed to share much of the same DNA as the humble potato and that probably explains why I love my mash so much. ๐Ÿ˜‹ :giggle::giggle:
