Summer Transfer Window Thread Now Open...

Fair enough but the writer is a Celtic fan with decent contacts at the club. We are obliged to reference where any quotes are attributed from. This means that supporters can get their Celtic news from fans media and not the red tops - the other one seems worse to me and Evening Times has faded badly. The Celtic Star has a majority of content that is entirely original, whereas others just lift, cut and paste and call it quick.
It was a bit of sarcasm ,,,,just a bit

Which leaves sevco with a problem as they have two players from Hibs on a option to buy bases, now this team can't pay thier players full pay and have now deferred payment for 3months with no direct income, any payment the get for thier league position has a que waiting for payment, yet they are still trying to match Celtic in the transfer market, with the commitments they have where is the money coming from?? Even if they sell Ell Buffalo which I can't see any money getting spent on a risk like him, whenever Celtic earmark a player they express an interest, this can only be to appease thier supporters.must live in a different world from the rest of us
awe the Huns are gonny go bust hahahah hopefully troops HH

OK time to reopen a previous debate. There was no mention of Shankland in your article. Surely we are at least considering such a prolific goalscorer - especially if French Eddy is a target for a number of teams?

I think he could work well partnering Griffiths up front being supplied by Forrest, Christie, CalMac, Frimpong, Rogic, etc, etc. And with his massive forehead he'd be able to score headers from his own half! And he'd cost less than many of the foreign failures we've gambled on and he doesn't need to adjust to the climate or style of football.
I've seen a fair bit of him because of work, BB, and there's something there. He doesn't have lightning pace, but he has a really good habit of finding those wee tight spots in the box. He's decent in the air and his link up play isn't terrible. I don't think he's top quality, but I reckon he's good for 20-a-season even as a bit-part player.

Still wonder what the issue is with Melling at Rosenberg too? I think he'd be a great fit for us, but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Bit of Griff about him in his early days heard last summer it was the championship he was leaning towards ,is a good old fashioned penalty box striker and one who will get goals .
Understand he didn't make an impact at Aberdeen but sometimes it's how the manager plays the player and how he see's his progress it doesn't always fit

If sevco had any money and some sense they would go after him and dykes instead of defoe n morethanuseless

Meling and the other french full back we lost out on wold have been a great fit , doubt it must be down to playing plastic pitches

I agree SP. Shankland has something and I'd rather he was scoring as a bit player for us than banging them in for sevco. He has a natural goal scoring instinct and would do well for us at domestic level at least.

I think we'd all take Melling in a heartbeat. A class player who I think would thrive with us. I can't understand why we've never made an approsch for him.

More concerned with shelf stock in super markets the now. But if an item is reduced might we be tempted,

I should have included him BB. I rate him, I agree he's not got the pace but he's a natural with a sight of goal and it's the ability just to be in the right place at the right time that can make up for what he lacks elsewhere. Meling has been on the list for how long now? Well I think it's this December his contract runs out. Now or never on that one surely.

I think Shveds done at Celtic mate ,sad because i thought we had signed a top player.
I agree. Thought he was going to be a helluva player for us. I still held out hope for him but WCB replied to onecof my post's last month saying he was finished with us and would be out this summer. Not sure if this extended shutdown will change anything but I think he will still be a player somewhere else.

You'd have bet a few quid that kid had what it took. Sadly I think his application doesn't match his ability

Today the price of oil in the USA dropped below ZERO. ie they are paying to give it away. Clubs are losing money at a horrendous rate. Football economics are changed. Changed utterly. Clubs will be happy to offload players from their wage list without any transfer fee. This is an ultimate buyers market. You cannot use players that you sign so why sign them. The transfer market is dead.

That's one of the areas where I see European football being based around the American sports, Doc. I believe transfer fees will not be an actual thing in 5-years time and unfortunately, Celtic might have to start offloading some decent talent while there is some sort of value attached to them.

Starting to think we’ll sell Edouard and/or Ajer for a reduced fee to compensate for loss of income if games are played behind closed doors.

No thanks. Had a good season and a poor season, frequently injured, as he has been since leaving and we won’t be spending anything let alone £3m on a back up winger. Play Karamoko Dembele more and give him the role of James Forrest back up whenever next season begins.
Never knew he was injured recently ,read a while back he was struggling to break into the Norwich team and his fitness level wasnt were it should be.If we could get him for 3 million its a no brainer ,just my opinion.
