It's sad to note that, in all the areas where there has been societal progress, race is still as big an issue in Scotland today, as it was back when Paul Wilson graced the Hoops.

There are signs of progress, but there is still very much the stain of Islamophobia and we all know about the anti-Irish rhetoric.

As a player, Paul Wilson suffered because of his melanin levels, but also because he WASN'T Kenny Dalglish or Lou Macari. To be honest, it was his slightly darker hue that I immediately noticed as a very young boy watching Celtic, but it was his incredible courage that stuck with me; not only in facing up to the racial prejudices, but also because he bounced back up after being regularly assaulted by the usual suspects.

Another fine collection of memories provided by Matt. Another fine insight into the inglorious history of Scottish society too.

I was lucky enough to have seen Paul play a few times.
He had a unique style of his own especially when chasing down a ball.
The Korean boy at Tottenham reminds me of Paul Wilson every time he goes on a run.
As Spherical said Paul might have suffered because he WAS,NT a Dalgleish or a Macari, but forunately the supporters did,nt suffer,I dont ever remember this man letting us down.
