Is it time for Dermot to cash in his chips

Everybody can talk all they want but the guy who will decide what the future of Celtic is Dermot Desmond. He is the boss and Peter Lawell,The Board ,The Manager and the staff dont have a say when he makes a decision. I have to ask the question has he lost interest in the football side of Celtic and only interested in money side.

If he has lost interest, why dosent he sell his shares to one of the big over seas outfits who will invest properly in the club and not take the fans for granted. He has done very well financially as has his CEO. Its time to invest or sell up, the fans have supported him, buying season tickets in record numbers. For an ageing billionaire why doesnt he invest many of his millions in the club and leave a real legacy, at the end of the day he is the man who can move us forward instead of struggling with second rate players and management .
If he not prepared to invest properly the time has come to stop taking the fans for granted and sell up and take his C.E.O. and manager with him.

If he not prepared to invest properly the time has come for the fans to take him for granted and do not buy season books or merchandise, he only owns what is profitablem, he does not own the fans and we are the profit.

I don't think the board, major shareholders etc care about this season. They took the season ticket money and saw many other revenue streams dry up or slow to a trickle. So I think they've written this season off and are handing it to Sevco because they're thinking about how much money they will make next season if there's a return to normality and for them that reality requires the illusion of competition. They have been proven complicit in the creation of Sevco and perhaps even the enabling of Rangers. It's increasingly evident they are enabling Sevco too.

Owning a football club must be the easiest way to make money. You can literally take the fans for everything they have and count on their loyalty to the club to continue to rinse them. Dermot must be looking at the other side of the city and thinking "you lucky bastards, ill have a bit of that"

Still life after football, the world is changing and better ways to be etertianed if some company is going to try and shaft you. We I believe are not tied to a stupid loyalty that involves departing with our funds to belong to something, time the family at the top shared some of the trappings.

Not a popular opinion amongst celtic fans but I completely agree. Celtic are the most important cog in the sevco machine and our board are the biggest beneficiary of their existence. Why kill your biggest money maker. The board wouldn't be on the street partying when we win 10. They won't be dancing for joy as rangers. mk2 falls into oblivion. "The journey" has made board members very rich men. The sky money has lined their pockets. That's why on their 1st game in the top league they got a home match on sky unfurling the championship flag and we got sent away to play the sheep or the mini huns or whoever it was and our board said nothing. They already had their fat sky cheque in the bank...

I wonder if it was one of Desmonds other businesses would he sit around and let the problem go on for months and not deal with it like he has done at Celtic.

desmond bought his 49% because it was change to him and he thought it was a shrewd investment that would multiply with Celtic in EPL/European League.
Outside of that he still pulls a dividend which by now has surely went a long way top recouping a fair chunk of his initial outlay.
he employs lawwell to run the club to the best of his ability and in the black so that he doesn't have to invest any more
he's a businessman first and foremost,

And you can be sure that fat sky cheque is the reason Celtic are the only club in the SPFL (afaik) not to offer PPV games to their fans

Thing is, DB - he knows that his other businesses need the clients to survive. He's pretty much assumed he has a captive audience with the Celtic fans. He knows we piss, whine and moan, but he also knows we come back for a double helping year in, year out.

Boab hit the nail on the head. It's a buyer's market in the era of Covid-19 and perhaps that steady revenue stream will dry up as fans have to pay rent, mortgages, taxes and put food on their tables.

The man has an ego though and he doesn't like it when his ego is wounded. Perhaps his ego is worth a few of his pennies to shut up the zombie gloating.
