Diego Maradona..

Now I live in England. Some of my closest friends are English, my partner is English and my 2 wee girls are 50% English so I dont particularly enjoy English bashing, tarring them all with the same brush and all that but my god!! Some of the comments I've seen down here are downright disgraceful. One act, ok, it may happen to be one of the most controversial and recognised acts in football history but still. And its all some people down here remember him for. The guy was a genuine footballing icon who achieved so much....but to a the English fan he's a cheat and that's it...even Shilton can't let it go.
Every single tribute on the telly or in the articles I've read leads with the "hand of god" incident. No-one else in the world outside of these islands (or Argentina) cares about it. It definitely wasn't the most controversial goal in a world cup. Geoff Hurst's effort that was awarded and never crossed the line IN A BLOODY FINAL was much worse!
