Back to Full Lockdown measures. Null and Void the season?

Tell you something this lockdown ain't working, I was called out to an emergency today, roads were busy, cunts queuing to get into McDonald's, folk out buying compost in B n Q all sorts.
Nothing like the conformity of the spring lockdown.
Close construction, close manufacturing and only have genuinely essential businesses open or this shit storm is going to last for months!

Just hold on there Hoopy. I'm presently working on a large site building new buildings for Glasgow Uni. There are strict rules in force. Keeping at least 2 metres apart. No sharing tools or any mechanical rigs. Breaks are staggered and the canteen facilities are screened from each other. A cleaner sanitises every desk when your breaks are done. Strict one way systems or get ordered off site. I'm more worried going to the supermarket. Fine if your own work on small premises or in a house where you must place trust in their hygene? Who monitors small contractors or individuals? I get sacked if i do not comply.

So you're all for construction being closed down? How would that affect you pal?

My issue is a lot of construction and particularly manufacturing workers especially in cities will take public transport to work, big risk of transmission there, welfare facilities on construction sites are famously shit, the sort of shit the average office worker would spew at, huge risk there. I'm glad your place is well run mate but its a world leading university and the standards will be client led, not contractor led. The average house building site will not have that level of care because they are their own client as far as CDM is concerned.
From my point of view I work in occupied houses most of the time, I've been requested by a major letting agent to carry on working as normal, I've been told by my own directors (one who is a solicitor) to carry on as normal ie carry out routine works in occupied properties. I've refused because its clearly against the rules, I will deal with genuine emergencies, I've taken advice from an employment lawyer attached to the Scottish government (who i cant speak highly enough about) and she's backing me completely. I don't believe this is the time to be making profit, its time to protect people. I know its tough for self employed folk who don't automatically get furlough payment but that's an issue for government to address. We all need to stay home wherever possible until the vaccines take effect. 1000 people a day dying and it will get worse, its fucking terrifying!

Wether my site is client lead is not relevant to me. We're conforming big time and to put all sites in the same bracket isn't correct. A blanket ban on all sites is very harsh. Call it extreme but the psychological effects of this for ALL is huge. The strains on relationships, even people with suicidal tendancies. How many will die from these influences? How many broken homes due to finances? How many childrens worlds can it destroy?

So just lift the lockdown and hope for the best?
