Pontins

Roughly same policy as the old liquidated club, Rangers, had for 100 years.. I have no idea if that new club has the same policy but it would appear their fans are exactly as vile and bigoted as that of the old club ,Rangers ..
Scottish society was the same, back in the day , before we got into positions of power in the council and government and drove these cretins out..My late grandfather always maintained that as soon as you put down Roman Catholic on an application form , you had no chance of job..Pontins will see a huge backlash from the Irish and affiliated on this matter

That explains me and ma pal no' gettin past the first form stage when we were looking for jobs at their Blackpool camp in the 70s. Cunts.

Try living down south where your holidays away with your kids are ruined time and again by travellers who, fight, shout at and threaten other guests. Push families and kids out the way who have been queuing for rides for over and hour. Threaten staff members who try to intervene. Threaten guests to move from tables when they are sitting down for meals. Spend all night drinking and shouting when you're trying to get your kids to sleep. I can completey understand why they have tried to make their resort better for other guests. Maybe they've gone about it the wrong way but it's not as simple as it looks at 1st sight.

Was just gonna post that , i can see where Pontins are coming from as lubo stated if you've never experienced it first hand then don't be too quick to condemn it ,there law unto themselves and respect nobody barr themselves

Pontins made a massive fk up in the way this was leaked and while some families might think thank fk ,the travellers will be thinking lets get booked up and show these fkrs
Hotels/ Country houses do the same thing to block traveller weddings the travellers spend huge amounts of money cash never a problem , but some hotels just see it as not worth the hassle and block the bookings

Sorry but not everyone with an Irish surname is a traveller and not all travellers have an Irish surname

Absolutely correct. But the reason they set up their rule was due to the high number of Irish travellers that were causing trouble. I can only imagine that Pontins were losing a huge amount of cash through refunds, damaged items and unpaid bills. And speaking of my own experience here, losing out on future guests. They came up with a way to try stop this. OK its not the best way but show me the person out there who can think of the best way of dealing with this sort of thing and I'll show you a genius. What's the alternative??

I dont think it's racist at all. I'm sure Pontins welcome trade from Irish guests. I think they are trying to protect their business from travellers who cost them hundred of thousands of pounds, or maybe more, each year in lost revenue. On one occasion, and believe me there have been many, a group of about 20 odd young traveller guys sat in the restaurant and ate and drank all night.....bill must have ran into thousands. They spent the whole night being abusive to staff....and getting the police involved is pointless down here as they are more scared of travellers than anyone...anyway, at the end of the night they all got up and walked out apart from 1 guy....all the rest said he's paying an pointed at the 1 remaining guy....when they had gone the 1 guy said "I'm not fucking paying for them, you shouldn't have let them go" he chucked down a few 20 pound notes and said "that will cover me" then he walked out. I've seen this stunt pulled in pubs several times. You can't blame pontins for trying to do something about it.

And I know how bad law abiding Irishmen are treated due to the way travellers act down here. My mother in laws partner is Irish. He is a mechanic who sells cars....he cant even meet possible customers due to his accent, my mother in law has to do the sales pitch. If they hear him speak they will run a mile....and that's not because the customers are racists that hate the Irish...its because they know if they are buying a car from a traveller, which they assume he is, the likelihood is it will blow up before they drive it out the road and they will get their teeth smashed in if the complain.

My father in law owns a carpet fitting shop. He has refused to fit carpets on several occasions for travellers, mainly due to the fact he subs out the work to local carpet fitters who refuse point blank to go onto sites and also because he has lost thousands and thousands of pounds due to not being paid after the job have been complete when he used to do the jobs on his own....and the people ripping him off weren't always strangers. It was guys he knew and spoke to. But they have no respect for anyone and just refused to pay....what could my father in law do. Call the police?? He would find a burnt wreck where his van used to be if he done that.

I can only tell you all of my experience with the travelling community, 2 years ago we and a few friends booked a New Years line dancing 4 day break in a large Blackpool hotel (wife does line dancing) there was a group of travellers also staying at the hotel, they were at an event in a separate hall from us, come 2am Hogmanay our show was coming to an end, the DJ makes an an announcement that’s it’s now SAFE to go back to your room, unknown to us the traveler’s had run riot in the other hall, started stealing drink from behind the bar, when challenged, glassed 2 bar staff, one a woman, done it in front of families with children, police swarmed the hotel, in full riot gear, they had all disappeared by the morning, all the pick up vans and vans had gone from the car park, I asked at reception what had happened, apparently 10 travelers families had booked in 3 weeks previously, made the booking online, they always engineer an “incident“ then feck off without paying, I asked why do you let them stay? Receptionist says we can’t bar them for being travellers, that’s racist, we have to wait till they do something, then deal with it 😡😱

Am sure you father in law doesn't refuse jobs based on people's surnames

My first time ever in Dublin in the early 80s. Found a gaff in the city centre, washed and shaved then headed for a pint. The international bar sounded like a good start so went in and ordered a pint of Guinness, the pub was quiet, the barman muttered something then began pouring about a dozen pints up to the usual two thirds starter. A few minutes passed and he never moved to top up a pint for me. I thought I should give it another wee while as I knew the importance of the ritual and I did not want come across as the ignorant Brit/Scot but after what must have been near 10 minutes I asked where my pint was.
"Get out of here you tinker bastard, you and your family have cost this bar a fortune and your fake accent fools no one" I was half expecting a gun from under his apron so did not wait around to explain his unfortunate mistake. Cycled to Galway the next day.
