Lambert, the Celtic job and his "reputation"

Liked him as a player & no dont want him as manager but hating him is a bit much, all the media & there staff & anyone involved or wanting a job in media has to keep the lie going, seems a prerequisite for any of the jobs. So not surprised he says those things, they all do. Do I hate them all, no but fuck them all.

You either have friends or take the soup, thats the choice they make if they want to live in the real world or live of the fat of the lie in the make believe world.

I honestly don't get this hatred for Paul Lambert, a highly successful player who served Celtic with distinction on the park and carried himself well off the park too if memory serves me correctly.
Do I want him as manager? No, but thats based on his lack of success as a manager, nothing more.

Well said Hoopy, like you, I don't want Lambert as manager. Also like you, I don't get the absolute bile directed towards the guy. As a player he was simply superb for us.

Hardly commendable statistics to be considered for the Celtic job. It seems every time the job is available he just comes out and says "I'm not interested" we dont know if hes ever really been considered good enough anyway. Still it's an easy way to take the tabloids money. " Wheres ra burds " and any other player should do the same and take their money for saying I'm not interested as well , anything anti-Celtic is worth a couple of hundred bucks from the rags.

He can't exactly say that so he's ruling himself out because he doesn't want to ruin his reputation with the celtic support, firstly he clearly hasn't read some of the Celtic supports views of him (which is probably a good thing) secondly maybe its a bit of a dig at how a section of our support turned on Lennon when results went wrong.

These guys don't talk to the press the way we meet in the street, he has accepted a story with his signature, he therefore for money took part in fabricating stories, he could have told a reporter to gently shove his pen up his arse and get out my way. The public struggle to get a sentence out of some players so they are unlikely to talk to a guy with a pen, unless of course there is a wallet opened.
No hatred for him just IMO another monety grabber who will talk all day for a wedge.

Stunned but not surprised and glad to hear that Paul Lambert has said that he doesnt want to be considered for the Celtic manager post. What I'm stunned at is his deluded mindset from his interview about the post. He said that he isnt interested in the job because he " doesnt want to tarnish his reputation and relationship with the Celtic supporters " . Is he so deluded that he believes he still has a good relationship and good reputation with the Celtic supporters having taken the soup for so long now? Cant believe this guy, his "relationship " with us has long been tarnished and I don't know a single supporter who would want him as manager even without the soup hes taken. His managerial abilities are so far off the standard we require. I suspect that he knows this and this is just a deflection. I could be wrong but I'd be surprised to find any on the noise who'd be for his appointment, if I'm wrong about that please feel free to shoot me down.

He said he didn't want to be Celtic manager because it may damage his reputation with the fans. What's wrong with that? Read some of the comments on here about our ex managers, short of winning the European Cup its a poisoned chalice apparently.
The funny thing is nobody wants him to be manager but because he's come out and said he doesn't want it he's a cunt and hates us!

And behind it all is whatever he said about the huns, whenever he said it, because saying something disagreeable about them is far more important than what he did for years on the pitch for us!

Dont want Lambert as manager if I'm honest.

Also dont particularly like the name calling of a former captain, but each to their own.

Although his backing the myth of same club and a harsh punishment is ridiculous in its entirety and would put off most if not all Celtic fans from accepting him, I wouldn't be calling for him not to get the job because of that, using that alone as a criteria would make Tom Boyd favourite for the job in my book.

It would be akin to out of the frying pan into the fire if Lambert was appointed, tactics similar to Neil's own, basically a football dinosaur.

Always knew he was not from a Celtic background shall we say ,which as we all know should make no difference when anybody pulls on that jersey or represents our club which has already been discussed on a number of different threads.It's a fact that this is not a pre requisite that somehow that is a qualification to succeed. Lambert gained respect for playing at a high level winning a champions league as a player ..he played a big part in stopping them winning the ten and flourished in Martins team where he showed his professionalism and dedication to win. For that alone he had my respect. I always found him to be a dour and uninspiring character and was not surprised to see him fail as a manager. I do not hate him for his comments about the lie that is them. If he doesn't get it then more fool him but I do not agree with his flawed and inaccurate ramblings about our second 9 and them not being there. 4 of those years that they were there are the most successful in any Scottish trophy haul FFS . Would never want him as a manager and don't think he was ever in the running ,whoever comes in has to believe we are the superior and number one club and it's their job to prove it...If anything just glad he has ruled himself out.
