Eddie Howe & Signings

If Eddie Howe is confirmed this week then the massive rebuild of the squad will need to begin immediately.
4 of his Bournemouth stalwarts are out of contract this season, covering 4 of the positions we need reinforcements in.
Asmir Bergovic is a solid experienced keeper if Howe decides against giving Barkas a chance. He's 33 years old.
Adam Smith is a good right back with 5 years EPL experience behind him, he's still only 29.
Steve Cook was Howe's captain and centre half and is the same age as Smith.
Josh King can play striker, behind the striker or off the left wing, a 29 year old Norwegian international (50+ caps) he is currently on a short term deal at Everton.
I would expect us to try and sign at least a couple of these guys. Not keen on Cook as his lack of pace makes him a bit Shane Duffy in our style of play. Bergovic and Smith would be very good signings and would strengthen 2 problematic areas. King would be the icing on the cake although I suspect his wages would be beyond us.

The rebuild Gary will be the biggest in my 60 years at Celtic,I think we are 8 players away from being able to compete in Europe and 4-5 away from taking the flag back to Parkhead.
The task ahead for the new manager is colossal but he will already know that and if it is Howe, I am sure he has told Desmond what it will take to get him across the border..
I would be delighted to kick it all of with the names you have mentioned mate,we dont have their quality now so there is the start to retreiving the flag..

I don't think the rebuild is as massive as we think....keeper, centre half, striker and two full backs and possibly a left sided midfielder.....Big Billy had a bigger rebuild in the centenary year 😎👍

You said King is 29 Gary and maybe his wages would be the stumbling block for us,what if the offer him a 4 year contract instead of the usual 3 years for a guy his age, that might swing things in our favour,he is exactly what we need,a big strong Bhoy..

Read he was on £45k per week so given there's no transfer fee I assume a deal could be done. Maybe Ajer and Elyounoussi might have a word...

Terrific post, totally realistic. Whoever the new gaffer is, he has a massive job ahead of him. I think Howe is probably as good as we could get at the present time, although we may need to cut the bloke a bit of slack. In all honesty, I'm not too sure he can turn it around as quick as we would like.
So much will depend on whether sevco qualify for the CL. I'm with green sprig, at least 6 players needed for SPL alone.

Maybe the European nights Gary will be the dangling carrot.
It,s every players ambition to play in Europe but if Kings ambition is that then this is his best opportunity..

It widnae need that big of a rebuild if lenny recruited better...relying on loans far too much and 10m on barkas and ajeti if all the money it cost for those players was spent better then new gaffer wid just be doing the usual freshen up that new managers do wen they arriv
I think the time for pointing fingers is long gone. I don't want to find myself wondering "if" we did this or that etc. I think, broadly speaking, we are all on the same page regarding what went wrong.
Time for some forward thinking and planning. Let's enjoy the ride.

Just listened to Carlton Cole being interviewed about Eddie Howe moving to Celtic.
The idiot who was interviewing him asked the big guy...do you think it would be a mistake for Eddie Howe to take the Celtic job if offered it,there is a possibility he could be offered Crystal Palace or Newcatle.
Now there is where the mistake could be made,,if he passed up Celtic for any of these two then yes that would be a major mistake.
You are talking about one of the biggest fan based clubs in the world who can stand shoulder to shoulder with Barcelona,Real Madrid Man Utd ..as far as fans are concerned
Man Utd are the only British team who might have more worldwide fans than Celtic, but I think Eddie Howe could live with that.
Eddie Howe is a nice guy who is exceptional at his job as he has proven at Bournemouth,.
I was told before I went to Celtic it was a step back for me but the minute I walked through those doors I was floored by the size of Celtic,,do yourself a favour by attending a home game at Parkhead when the crowds are allowed back and then phone me and tell me I am wrong,it will be the greatest experience of your interviewing life..

I agree its time to look forward..was just pointing out recruitments got to be better HH
If we get Eddie Howe Cairnsybhoy then I believe the recruitments will be very good.
I think he is fighting his corner to bring in Richard Hughes who I think is involved with recruiting.. As much as I never at anytime wanted Lenny after he left first time Lawwell never afforded him the opportunity to bring in his own staff,Eddie Howe wont have the same problem, it,s possible that Fergal Harkins from Man City will also be brought in on to the recruiting side.
Keep the faith Cairnsybhoy..

Am very happy pal that we seem to have him in...his name will attract good youths from down south id imagine aswell as older pros from English leagues I think its gonny be great wen I think about howe and wits possibly infront of us im getting that wee feeling in ma gut that we awe love to feel GETTING EXCITED 😝👌🤞

Personally I think we have a good side, and lot of good players.

Im not so sure we need 8 new players.

certainly need a few good additions to squad but for me the style of lennon was weak, not the players.

A better system with these players we own with replacements for guys who dont wanna be here and some real quality winners into squad with desire and a good manager can make this group very strong

imo
