Realistic signings for the new manager

Hello All. Been super scunnered last few weeks and not in the mood to post but back now! 😄
Interesting post this - as a couple of people have said we need strong experienced players in key positions. Begovic would be a good shout for a keeper - the St Johnstone guy has been good but really he would just be a slight upgrade on Bain. I also think McCarthy would be a good buy though injury record is a concern. As for Scottish players - need to be looking at players who can kick on and go to a next level which rules out the likes of Gallagher (think he is going to the Dons anyway?) - so guys like Porteous, Doig and Ferguson (would wind the Huns up as well 🤣)
Maybe see if get Hickey back from Bologna on loan? Don’t think he’s played recently.
After that I’m not sure - maybe push the boat out a bit for someone like Josh King? And also maybe look to Scandinavia or East Europe - must be some experienced internationals who can be picked up for more realistic prices?

If we got Keane in...immediately after Lennon left.....we wid be building a great team by now ...built by Keane...playin the Keane way.....with players that want to play for Him.....let that sink in....

:unsure:okay then ,,,, charlie mulgrew , thats all i can see

To get the right combo of tallent and wage that fits our structure we need to be buying the top players from the scandi and non tv money rich leauges. Take the hit in the initial transfer fee.
Doesnt help that our top boys are on less than some of the Seville team.

Anybody that plays that chanp man game has as good a data set as the random scout teams.
Dont play it myself.
Few players over the years ive put question marks on have been through youtube. Not the hilights of the player but searching the dates and games they played and watch the full game hilights.
Shows missed chances, defensive lapses, keeper howlers, player positioning and mistakes.
You get an idea of who you are getting.
Bolli and Barkas recently gave me the fear. Ajeti for me was just a guy in a good team. Lucca as a lb as well i quickly rulled out even though it is listed a 2nd position.
Its a ball ache of a process.
Always want any player we sign to kick on and do the business.
Its frustrating as F when you see these guys doing the same stuff in our jersey that put me off in the first place.

Celtic scouts are at Hampden today watching Ali McCann of St Johnstone.
Half an hour into the game and he's impressing in the defensive midfield role.

Wouldn't tell us to much Gary judging by some of the muck we have bought in to the club. Wouldn't be to bad if we actually had a manager in place identify any such players so can only hope someone is making calls as long as its not PL traitor still

We shud snap up young doig and boyle from hibs and young mccan from St Johnstone before we look abroad for a start even the big keeper at St Johnstone aswell least these players know how to dig in and fight but are also talented skillful players for our league then spread couple of more exotic players from the continent I want a Scottish core if possible

Whoever we pursue will be on the say so of our new manager(presumably Howe). No point spending hard cash on guys when the manager will have his own ideas.
I can understand getting in a few Scottish players stevie to help bolster the squad and give them the opportunity to play for the biggest and best club in Scotland and to get the extra quality needed from elsewhere and if they can deliver, all about getting the right balance in such a rebuild

I meant that yes we can speculate but at the end of the day no team can spend on any new players until a manager identifies them as being part of his plans/vision. I personally don't believe that being Scottish is an advantage. You're either good enough or you aren't. We need to look further than just being the best Scottish players. What about Larsson, Hartson, Sutton etc? They weren't Scottish but class and took us forward. We might not be able to shop in the same window but being Scottish means heehaw to me.

Still holds an advantage with knowing what to expect from the shite that goes on within Scotland. This rebuild may well take as many as 4 or 5 transfer windows to really create a squad to get back to being really competitive in Europe again, still not a lot required to overhaul sevco scum (SS) still.
