I know the type of player young Burke is, Weah and Bayo unsure. Two of this 3 are Loan players..
Brendan in today’s papers saying Not to expect big money signings and harping on about the Celtic Transfer Policy and that things wont change.
All the players mentioned in the Rumour mill would not improve Celtic.
Why won’t Celtic spend decent money. If Directors are ending up with millions in Bonus why can’t they as Directors help with a big money buy??
Boyata? Nobody will buy him! He is a free agent in July.
Dermot what is going on at Celtic?

Celtic are now a development club. We will bring in young untried players in the hope of selling for a profit. Our squad will be bolstered by loan signings of more experienced players to make sure we win the domestic league. We will never move forward as a club on this policy. As soon as a player makes a name for himself he will be off (dembele, VVD, Wanyama to name a few) The board don't care about moving forward. They care about profits. They will wheel out every manager we have to hit us with the same bullshit statement. This is what Glasgow Celtic Football Club is all about now. Get used to folks

Big money signings? Define big money? For us, and Scottish football, (up to) £9m for Edouard, £4m for Ntcham are big money. In EPL, where BR has come from and £30-40m punts are common place.
We are now a club that looks to bring in players where we can add value by good coaching and a platform to improve. We look to have a core of Scottish/British players with a few rough diamonds from further afield. The principle of what we are doing is correct IMO, it works for similarly sized/reputation clubs in small European countries (eg Ajax, Salzburg, Benfica) but they are better at executing it than us. We don’t scout players early enough, we are limited in the markets we buy from and we don’t sell at the optimum time (eg Boyata £9m in the summer, Simunovic £7-8m the previous summer). We don’t seem to have a plan where if one goes out we have someone lined up to come in eg. Dembele left and no one came in. If Edouard is promoted to no.1 striker then a new no.3 should have been ready to come in.
McKenna, if he signs will be as a replacement for Boyata. The bonus is he’s naturally left sided and has good pace. He is far from the finished article, neither is Ajer, but we don’t buy the finished article, they sell at £75m.

Not asking for a finished article. Just a player who isn't a project....a "maybe he'll make it maybe he won't" player....the EPL isn't the only league in the world. There has to be decent CB in Spain...Portugal....Belgium....France....Holland....who would love to play in front of 60000 fans and in the champs league. We aren't asking for a Varane or a Kimpembe. But there's got to be better CB than fucking McKenna. An average defender in an average team in an average league

If this is the case, then sooner rather than later this process will collapse around us. If Celtic managers, BR included cannot stand up and be counted and cannot explain that the fans want a team that is to remain at the Top of the league and competing in Europe especially in the Champions league then what chance do Celtic have.
Directors taking millions out the club for their bonuses and not putting back in is an abhorrent disgrace.
How can players on loan keep Celtic on top and then be sold on? That does not make sense.
Will £2m Bayo keep us at the top of the league and keep us in Europe, I doubt it very much.
Sevco are spending more than us, Yes a glib comment perhaps but Lawwell and Co need to splash some cash and pull their finger out. Dermot Desmond also needs to stop the bonus culture for directors.
Celtic FC has to move away from Loan players and we need a Manager to stand up and be counted. BR is not doing it.

Like Simunovic? Sviatchenko? They worked out well. Even Boyata, 3 years to become an overnight success for 3 months.
Like it or not every signing we make is a punt or a project, we just need to make sure we have a better success rate than we have had in recent years. Caldwell and McManus, 2 x last 16 of CL, Ambrose and Wilson, beat Barca, none of these players were fancied by the support when they with Big Mick), none were the most popular when they played with us, but they had relative success and did well for us. Maybe the manager sees McKenna as potentially the best partner for Ajer, contrast in styles, strengths attributes?

Aw shit, Gary - have you got a wiretap in my microwave?

That's the examples I was going to use, but well said, my friend.

It's our identity that is unique too, I don't want to dilute our traditions by having a squad full of mercenaries playing solely for pay.

There will always be a place for a Lubo, Larsson, Naka, but we should always be aware of our roots, heritage and culture.

Those are points I can't argue with Gary. I just want to be excited and confident about our signings. McKenna doesn't excite me at all. If we actually sign him and I'm wrong and he turns out to be a future club captain then I'll put my hands up and say i was wrong....

Hugh Keevins (Sevco) they are throwing everything at this title Defeo not cheap or Davis or SG and he has spent, probably money they do not have, is there not a name for that and a structure in place at the SFA to prevent this (FFP) this is sports hacks sitting in a studio casually not giving a fuck.

None of us can predict the future LLP, it doesn't matter if any of us have an opinion and the total opposite happens, its all about opinions mate and if someone on here or any other forum gets it 100% right then he's my shout to replace Brendan when he goes.
