AGM

Cheers for that folks. And WC for accommodating my self indulgence :)
It deserved a thread of its own to be fair, loved the analogy with the Wizard of Oz, took few seconds to realise that was the Wizards real name, (its been a while since I watched it).
It also made me think Michael Nicholson is just keeping the seat warm for P Lawwell. Maybe thats why Dom left or was pushed, he wasn't going to be anybody's puppet. Good on him if that was the case.
Anyway, keep up the good work. HH.

Resolutions 5, 6, 11 and 12 go to poll.

A tribute was paid to Broonie and Bankier says we need him back!

All seems to be kicking off!
Broony back as a player ? Absolutely not , as much as we all love the guy his best playing days are over and he is no longer good enough for a place on our bench. In time though broony back at CP in a similar fashion to lenny is imo a stick on. The most decorated player in scottish football has a lot to offer for future Celtic sides and all will look up to him for the legend ( true legend) that he is. Given time he will return of that I've no doubts .

When a European shake up finally happens and if we are a part of it.....then in my view we are going to be attractive to a takeover.....our custodians may just be treading water until that day comes...
This is something I wholeheartedly agree with you on imatim. DD sold his shares in man utd and if you have shares in man utd you are earning good returns regardless of performance levels of the team. DD has always said that he is all for both Glasgow clubs playing in the EPL and the top clubs there are for it also as it will increase their revenue from matchday attendances to tv deals etc. I believe it is unlikely to happen though unless sky threaten to pull the money plug if they dont allow us in. Clubs like Norwich, the Sheffield clubs, Bristol clubs , Birmingham clubs , what's in it for them? They see it as a huge disadvantage for their own progression. These clubs , clubs like villa will never agree to let 2 huge clubs join the EPL and will also fight tooth and nail against our entry at any level as they know that even if we started in league 2 or the conference we will be EPL clubs in no time. Imagine if say Watford or Birmingham were to apply to play in Scotland, how would that go down with Aberdeen hearts and hibs? Not well I'd say as it would be yet another obstacle in their path. A british cup is more likely to happen than a behemoth club like Celtic and a new club with good supporter backing joining in the free for all money scramble down south.

It's the age old argument winter and with the changes within European football ongoing, I would be confident enough that joining the EPL will never happen.
However I still believe that we were potentially looking upon this European super league and one of the requirements could have been taken the scum with us, able to still run a team within the SPFL, hence handing the shit the title to try and make them relevant.
Don't believe that the idea is dead in the water yet, especially with a potential world cup every 2 years still on the cards.
Next season will be havoc with a world cup during the actual season and got no idea how that will play out, but can see huge changes coming within European football come the end of next season.
Until then, we still want to win all before us, even if its maybe not what this untrustworthy board may think is in our best interests imo

This is a very interesting post Winter. What is the measure of a BIG Club?
Its worth a thread of its own. I'll get one going.

Got to say mate a genuinely outstanding piece of writing☝️that sums up the situation with Desmond and this Celtic board perfectly.

Like yourself my biggest hope after last season's shit show was that we had finally reached the point where with Lawell gone {well kind of 😒} and the new guy in the CEO's chair we as a club were now ready to embrace a new direction! A new era of key policy changes and the long overdue modernisation and restructuring of the football operation but after Dom McKay's departure and this latest AGM it seems crystal clear it will be just more of the same blinkered outdated bullshit from Desmond and his board of obedient flying monkeys!

Yep the new guy was quickly jettisoned for daring to implement change, Lawell's mini-me Nicholson was immediately installed to restore the 'natural' order of things {anybody who thinks that appointment isn't permanent or he will be any different to what came before is kidding themselves} and any hope of a new dawn at Celtic disappeared quicker than Dom McKay's name from the CEO's office door!

If anybody really wants to know what Celtic is to Dermot Desmond then look no further than the proxy he sent to represent him in his {15 year} absence from these AGM's.....to him Celtic is nothing more than a slice of his son's inheritance! Once again it seems our club is at the mercy of a family dynasty!

P.S. The perfect visual metaphor for yer article mate....

Thanks Brim - It certainly looks like MN is lypsynching to me. Lawwell is still writing and producing.

Cheers Shadow. Spot on. I work on a day job that so often ends up cyclical, just a little bit of history repeating. It's a frightening prospect to think this is what it has become considering the battle won before. Perfect clip by the way. Loved that😍
