My New Year's question is this.....

Should we be paying 6 million for Jota BEFORE his recovery from injury????
I think we should wait and see what progress he makes first. I know that too has dangers but surely once he recovers talks can continue between the club's behind the scenes.
The fact that he was absent from the latest training video has me concerned.
Your thoughts bhoys and ghirls??

Is it an injury he's had a few times before? If so then perhaps you have a point Doc, if it is the first time I would be paying for him immediately if not sooner 😉.

We don't need to worry about signing him until the summer. We have the option a set price. No need to worry about it

This potential deal for Jota on paper is an absolute no brainer, yet there are still many factors to take into consideration still.
No doubt someone has totally fucked up at Benfica by letting him potentially go for such a low fee, which Celtic has to take advantage of.
Bet behind the scenes Benfica are trying to salvage as much as possible on the potential millions they stand to lose so hopefully the club have covered themselves legally on this potential deal and haven't left any loopholes open to be exploited still.
Of course money is a huge factor in today's game and players with the ability of Jota can very quickly outgrow our finical pay structure and I fear Jota may well have done so already.
I would be surprised if many a club aren't already lurking in the background with the riches they can offer would be far greater than what we could afford still.
The ultimate decision will lie with Jota and his agent and with the amount of money involved it's never going to be as straightforward as many of us would like it to be.
If our CEO can get this deal finalised then it would be fantastic business, one that the club can't fail to lose upon, so praying that it can get done regardless of Jota long term plans.

The only obstacle will be the player. If he wants to sign for us that's it. Fuck all benfica can do about it. The deal was signed in the summer. 1 year loan with a £6.5m option to buy.
Of course it is glasbhoy, and Ange doesn't worry about it and either should we as a club imo. Money as always will be the defining factor, and if Jota wants bigger money elsewhere then sobeit, as long as the club benefits then not bothered either way, but preference would be for him to stay with us and bring us back to the heights we should be aiming for in European football

Am not looking that far ahead. Just looking forward to fucking sevco in February

In football terms I'm not looking beyond hibs, first game back, but the question surrounding the future of Jota is not going away any time soon, and not to bothered on what decision the club and Ange makes regarding it long term, and will continue to enjoy what he provides to our team all the while he is in a hoops Jersey

When questions like this come up I always remember the Huns knocked back John Hartson because their medical people said he had dodgy knees!

Get him signed, he's the most exciting player we've seen in the Hoops since Lubo, and he's got youth on his side, it's a no brainer, he's a bargain at twice the price.

That's the question. He's put himself in the shop window. He's delivered. Is Celtic where he wants to be? I'm not sure as there will be other clubs in better leagues probably sounding out his agent.

I think Jota will play for us next season too and then move to England or another big team next summer. Let's just enjoy him while we have him, make a good profit and wish him well.
