Transfer Rumours

He has been a smashing player in his time at Celtic.
Never one of my favourite players tbh virgo, yet a very good squad member to have.
Thought it would be his last game for us after he got sent off in the shit hole last season, and wouldn't have been bothered if he was moved on when he got sent off in the CL qualifying match at the start of the season either.
Yet his transformation when used in the holding midfield role under Ange turned him into a very valuable player during this campaign and contributed greatly in our success imo.
Delighted for him to leave us on such a high and thankful for his contributions towards the club during his time with us

Assuming the rumours of Nir returning to Israel are true, then I suspect there will be quite a few more joining him out the door to free up some wages for their replacements. I think most of the following will be actively looking to leave us this summer:

Nir Bitton
Vasilis Barkas
Stupid Fecker Bolingoli
Ismaila Soro
Mikey Johnston (loan?)
Albian Ajeti
Karamoko Dembele
Osaze Urhoghide
Adam Montgomery
Conor Hazard
Liam Shaw
Luca Connell

Now I personally don't want to lose a few of the younger players listed, but I think many will go.

It hasn't all been plain sailing for the big fella, but for most of his Celtic career he was played as centre-back which clearly wasn't his best, favourite or natural position. Yet not once did he ever complain publicly but instead kept his head down and did what he needed to do for the team.

Recently he has actually gotten to play in his preferred position as a holding midfielder and has mostly played very well to help us see out the last hslf hour of tricky matches. But perhaps his biggest contribution this season has been off of the pitch where he has played a big role in helping all the new signings settle in so quickly - especially fellow Israeli Abada who has praised Nir for supporting and assisting him.

I see there is speculation that the big frenchman might be on his way in the summer. I would be quite happy is we can score some money for him. I'd prefer to see him go than Bitton to be honest although IMO he is better than Starfelt..
Still a hard one to call virgo.
Still don't believe that the defensive line up is settled enough for Ange liking still and also can't see us getting CCV signed either sadly.
Think scales might be converted into a left sided CB with Murray also starting to possibly coming into the reckoning also.
Starfelt could be moved into his more favoured right sided CB if CCV can't be secured with either Jules or Welsh as cover as things stand.
Left back remains our biggest concern imo for cover, so still expecting some more arrivals in the summer in our defensive set up still.

When we wrap up the league on Wednesday, big Julian should get the remaining game to prove his fitness/worth, there’s rumours that we wants away, a player with a almost career ending injury hanging over him is worth feck all, he cost us £7 million we need to recupe some of the money

I have a feeling Scales SHOULD be our ball playing CB on the left side. I don't think he is a left back, except in a pinch.
I also think Starfelt will not survive next season. Same with our big french ego tripper. Does not seem to fit the mould of an Ange player.

I feel that Starfelt has some good qualities, but he's not ideal for a centreback pairing when our wings are exposed. The fact that we encouraged JJ, Ralston, and Taylor to get forward as often as they do (and I'm not complaining) has exposed Starfelt at times. He's a talented fellow, but I'm not sure he's best suited to Angeball.
As for Big Christopher, there is no room for sentiment......he produces or he goes.

For the life of me, I still can't get this ongoing starfelt debate.
For a start he has been far more solid imo than ajer was last season in the same position, and that with ajer being one of the very few acceptable performers, yet both played out of there preferred positions?
Has our left side of the pitch been has strong as our right side in being able to retain the football which Ange style of play demands?
The LB position took until after Christmas to finally get sorted out with Taylor quite rightly making the position his own, yet is there still room for improvement?
Most teams will only play with 1 up front, yet starfelt has taken on the role of challenging that man and yet won nearly every duel throughout a game, for which very little credit has been awarded his way?
Yet for the price bracket we have to operate in, I think we can tend to expect far more for our money at times than we actually get in return.
Always have claimed that the triangle of the 2 CB and the keeper wins you leagues and our attacking and flair players by how much, and that case has been proven yet again this season.
Still would we question Joe Hart for the 1M fee (who has been superb) yet has caused many moments of panic when the ball is at his feet, also a requirement of how Ange wants to play.
In short I just don't understand how so many can give acclaims to so many players this season and yet remain so critical of others, with making starfelt the major focus upon the criterism?

You might as well be talking to yourself John. If starfelt scores the goal that wins the league you'll still get the "it was a good goal, but i dont fuckin trust him playing out from the back" brigade on moanin. People obviously have their mind made up on the man from early on the season. All the stats in the world won't change their narrow minds. For a man who has played an entire season out of position, he hasn't done too bad.

Think your right John no’...if the roles were reversed ie ccv and starfelt swapping positions the big man would receive the same criticism,if ccv decides celtics not for him and moves on then starfelt will move into his spot?then we will see how he fares,a think they all deserve at least a season to bed in🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

He’s become an easy target best defence in the league.
Some on here should check the stats that were on here about Him and CCV think it was Celtic by numbers. Even his Manager came out and said the criticism of him was out of hand.
But this is a game of opinions everyone has them. But easy targets from commentary Mandy Wanker keep up with the he’s the weakest link.
All players make mistakes but some get more leeway than others. But as Ange trusts him and plays him he’ll be at Celtic
And as players of this Football Club they will get my full backing and Support.
get behind the players they thrive on the Support only We can give them.
As Maeda said today it’s been fantastic the backing and support we get from our fans at all games.

I think there are improvements needed in Starfelt's game, but he has come on enormously in this one season alone. Credit where credit is due on the lad. He did not let us down one little bit. A bit more competition for his regular place next season might not do him any harm. He gets my vote of approval. 👍

He got thrown in at the deep end but hats off to the fella he plodded on and made the odd mistake he does tend to panic at that but has settled down since the cup final
think a preseason under him will do him the world of good

All very valid points made beforehand and ones I couldn't disagree with either.
How I currently view the starfelt situation is that I am very grateful to have him especially as I believe he can play in either of the CB positions, and possibly far stronger in the right CB position.
Now I would be surprised if we can get a deal for CCV, as surely conte will want to make a decision upon him in the close season.
Also, at a total guess, I would say he is possibly on higher wages at spurs currently than what fits into our pay structure, so could we be looking at CCV to take a pay cut in order to join us full time?
I hope, I'm wrong about CCV, but without any such developments as such still, will possibly leave us with a huge whole within the defence that needs filling, before pre season imo.
Question marks still remain over Jules and gut feeling is after such a bad injury, he won't be able to return as the player he once was for us especially in the brief view we had of him this season, his pace seemed badly lacking.
Young Welsh is another one who has seemed to struggle with the way Ange likes his CBs to play and seeming to be lacking in confidence currently, and wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Ange was prepared to cash him in either.
So that leaves potentially scales to see if he could develop into a potential left sided CB?
Yet his positional play was very suspect at LB and not a long term LB imo.
So that leaves us currently without cover for Taylor, who can also be suspect in positional and possession at times.
Overall, I believe our defence done a marvellous job for getting us back our league title, but if we have ambitions of going to the next level and getting back to being very competitive in European football, then the defensive area still will require improvements imo, in terms of squad depth

I think we will definitely buy another left back - Greg Taylor has improved a lot and will not want to give up his starting place so that will provide excellent competition.

If Jullien and or Welsh go then we need another CB - preferably a left-footed one this time.

I'd love Solbakken from Bodo Glimt. He is a winger but adds goals and assists too, and is an upgrade on Mikey J.

We need a solid reliable defensive midfielder, especially if Bitton leaves.

I want a goalscoring poacher to put away all the chances we make in domestic games against parked buses.

I think if we move on half a dozen players then we can afford to bring in these players for phase 2 of the Postecoglou era.

Totally agree BB, will be interested to see if guchi can step up as a potential replacement for Bitton as Mccarthy doesn't really inspire me, especially the way Ange likes to play the game

I was at the Bodo game and Solbakken was a pacy player with good movement
But the number 5 Brice Wembangomo was the standout player for me his pace and all round movement was top dollar but what do I know but we do need a leftie and a Keeper who can give Shampoo a battle the UTD guy Seigrist looks good, a big huge Wanyama/Broonie executioner in Midfield

You just won't let it go regarding Starfelt pal. You've made it crystal clear on numerous occasions. I think Ange knows best. If he was as bad as you feel he is then why is our defensive record the best in the league?
