Big Ange

I’ve just read on Celtic 1967 an interview with a Dean Jones telling Ange not to leave the club and some agreed with him saying Ange should stay for this season Is that the mindset or are they talking shite ?
Hopefully talking shite not heard anything other than the shit rumours about Brighton. PMSL Brighton ffs!!
Hopefully behind the scenes we’re trying to get him signed to a 3 or 4 year deal. Doesn’t give any guarantees that he’ll stay for that period but could help

Have you got the link. Couldn’t find it unfortunately. That said, Ange seems to me to be enjoying his work and able to work within our constraints budget wise. Hopefully he’ll keep taking us forward and be here for a while yet.

I think we do our manager and our team a massive disservice by bringing topics like this up. That's just my view ofcourse and certainly would not demand that the thread be taking down!!
Nothing Ange has done or said would make me believe that he would do a Brendan on us at the 1st opportunity.
He wants to manage a big European club, with a massive fan base and build something special in europe. He has all that with Celtic. He doesn't strike me as a guy that is chasing wealth and riches. He wants to create a legacy.
I would also say he is a different breed from your Jose's and Peps. Both great managers but both managers that need billions of pounds of backing to implement their ideas. Ange wants to show that he can take his own players and mould them into something better. He wants to create his own history, not buy it.
For all the people who say he will be off soon enough...why? He might create something special, it may take him 10 years to do so and he may want to stay till the jobs done..
We shouldn't belittle our club at every opportunity by classing it always as a stepping stone. Sometimes special people come along and realise the have a good thing right where they are...

And I'm sure the older guys on here will add to that list of people who could have gone for more cash to "bigger" leagues but chose to remain at Celtic.
I believe we have Ange for a long time. I hope I'm right.

Agreed Lubo, sometimes this ‘realism’ we’re supposed to accept is just negativity by another name

There was a story doing the rounds when Ange got the job , that DD asked him what kind of manager he is, is he the type to pack his bags at the first opportunity of an EPL job or will he stay and see his project through.
He will stay , it would take a monumental fall out for that to happen I believe, not going to happen.

I’m sure I read that too Winter. And every time the subject comes up he bats it away and reiterates what motivates, all the things Lubo mentioned above motivate him.

I understand fans wanting him sorted with a long term contract but he seems to be clear that he’s not looking for that.

That will do for me 👍

I think I read that story somewhere too Winter. Could be wrong, but if memory serves me right, DD made a big thing of it.
.

The reality is that these days, managers tend to have a shelf-life of about 3-4 years in a job. Players get bored of the same training everyday & motivational teamtalks before matches, fans either want some success or want more if they started off winning trophies and managers want a new challenge. A few managers (Pep, Klopp, Dyche, etc) get a longer run as most accept they won't get better.

Ange WILL be connected with just about every vacancy because he is an excellent coach & manager. Personally I think/hope we will get 5 or 6 years out of him. He is clearly relishing this opportunity and wants to build a legacy over an extended time. He also realises that many of our stars bought on the cheap will sell for big profits and he will have to keep repeating his magic in developing new stars - hopefully more from the youth system than in the recent past.

But he will want try his hand in a bigger league at some point before he gets too old. Remember he did leave Japan to step up to join us. The good thing is he tends to do the right thing and also he will leave behind an excellent structure and hopefully his coaching staff who will be ready to step up to seemlessly take over themselves.

I spoke to a friend of mine today and he said he seen a recent interview with ange where he said they have already got ideas in place for not only the January window, but for the next four windows. That doesn't sound like a man looking to go anywhere soon.
And before anyone asks, I have no links to the story.

All the Ange speculation is just media driven to drive a wedge into our success....any daft Hun cunt journalist can put 1+1 together and get a -10 story...all it does is upsets folk who hang on every word these charlatans say.....we/they should know better than to fall for it

When asked if the next window could be busier than normal because of the World Cup, the Hoops boss said: “Last January, without certainty or being able to predict the future, we thought about certain positions and what was needed. We’re doing the same again this year. We have already started planning and have identified the targets that we need.

“We will look to bring in players in January that hopefully then insulates us in case any of our players are taken off our hands. It’s part of our planning and we’re well underway in ensuring we are ready for that.

“We know that in the next few years that will progress and some of our players will move on. So we’ve got to make sure that we have players in the age group underneath who we can bring in and develop."

As Deadner said......That dosn't sound like a man moving on....

In a couple of weeks he will be a dead cert for the Leicester job...and when the manager of the prem club that leaves their job to take the Leicester job signs up then Ange will be the top candidate for that job.
Look at the difference in how our managers are reported in the media from Lennon to Ange, it is night and day.
Fans were out of order for demanding Lennon be replaced. Lennon wasn't linked with jobs on a daily basis. We actually had a media come out in support of a guy they had spent 20 years attacking!! Why?? Because at that point he was failing.
Now compair that to how they are begging for Ange to go. Brighton for fucks sake.
They chose to make a mockery of the whole Scottish league, a league that it is their job to report on and shine a positive light on, all in the effort, and hope, that Ange would trade a team with a worldwide fan base and who regularly play in europe for a bottom of the table, shit team in the south of England.
Take their stories linking our manager to everyone and anyone as a compliment. It means they are scared. Long may it continue!!

This is the way it should be. Planning for the following season by getting players settled in for a few months beforehand. As it turns out the players we brought in last January all hit the ground running and contributed significantly to us winning the league.

This is such a relief to have an effective global scouting network with specific targets and back ups, getting deals done early whenever possible, compared to scurrying around for the last 48 hours of the transfer window trying to pick up a bargain from the players that other teams didn't want irrespective as to whether they will suit our manager's style of play.

If they're shooting at you, you must be doing something right

Hugh Keevins was right about Ange. One league defeat in a year proves Keevins is an astute observer. Ange must go, Ange oot noo.
I think the Bigman gets Celtic. The whole immigrant backstory and how a club can represent a community, Ange can relate to that through his connection with South Melbourne.
Watch the videos he does with Slanney and Si Ferry. You can tell Ange loves it here. He has worked his whole life for this opportunity. I don’t see him leaving for mid table EPL mediocrity the way Rodgers did.
If Man Utd or Liverpool come calling then maybe, but Brighton? Nah Mate!
