Steven Welsh.

Great news for us and has been improving game on game and just shows what can happen with a youngster when given an opportunity.
Still don't see Welsh as a long term CB, right of a 3 or been converted into a RB would be my guess as possibly not the build to be a commanding CB.
Delighted to have kept hold of the lad and think big things await him in his career

First player through the youth system that's looked ready to play against men in a while. Last cbs were Kennedy and Mcmanus ffs.
he will only get stronger and smarter. he is brave and gets stuck in.
Glad he was given the chance and stepped up.
I'd expect us to sign at least 2 experienced cbs in the summer.
He has firmly put himself in the mix as a reliable option which is excellent.
Ajer has been one of the few that have kept charging on and shown a bit of drive. It's good Welsh has been around that determination. Likewise the signings coming in will push and educate him further.
Any manager coming in will be going through our defense with a fine tooth.
It needs it. Hopefully the challenge will push him up a level

Right of a 3 might give him the most mins next year. As a rb mibi in a backs to the wall European game for a final 10mins. Watching him with the ball at his feet he couldn't cut it for us as a celtic first 11 rb.
Ajer is a better footballer from his mf early days but still doesn't have the consistency to hold a rb slot for what we need attacking from wide.
Still has a bit of time to bulk a bit. He tangles with anyone in front of him. Wouldn't write him off as a cb yet wiki says he is nearly 6 3?
Room for improvement. He's hungry enough to put the gym hours in as well.

Makes you wonder, he ONLY got his chance and a run in the team due to necessity because of injury or loss of form from the more experienced/established players, how many more of the younger fringe players could have been equally as good, heartbreakingly disappointed for the others, especially considering how this season of seasons panned out

It's as much talent as durability. He is one of the few that have looked physically able to play in a senior side. There are plenty of lads that break through all over the world. Very few are built like the side of a fiver. That's all our system has produced for years

It’s football we play bobo, not rugby, how big is messi? Or jinky? if you’ve got the talent your good enough, perhaps we should be feeding wee dembele, bucket loads of porridge 🤣🤣

Up here? I've seen MJ get whiped out. Lad has everything. He for me is genuinely a sleeping giant of a player. Duff gave a golden approval and said "fit he is a serious winger" made up the quote but it was similar.
He had to do that bulk for him to be a viable option, mibi another year to tangle. Was injured and missed a year. It was a shame.
I'll accept that.
Jinky was a tough bastard. All the videos and footage I've ever watched I've loved.
Different time the training and flair is different now. What he did dint look fancy but with that ball an that time it was ridiculous. Effectively he dragged a cannon ball about and made it look like a feather.

Fitbaw player is a player man.

I'll repeat that he looked tough as nails. Halfd numerous times every game..shocking from what I've watched.
Jimmy would battle harder than MJ does now.
That lad is ludicrously talented. Injuries have done him this season.
There's nothing wrong with being ready for this league.
It's not Spanish colts

.........................................

Very true.....just like Kieran Tierney.....makes you think, doesn't it?

Luca comes to mind here too...

The bhoy has really grown on me ...has been one of of the few positives in recent months. Enjoyed listening to the lad in his interview and clearly has the right attitude and is determined to make it as a professional. Interesting to hear his realism to say it's only one or two who will make it from the academy age groups. There is a realibility about him developing as a CB and maybe the no nonsense version we were looking for ...brave physical and committed with potential. For me a great addition to our squad going forward. Well done young Welsh.

If the unthinkable happens next Sunday, and a defeat ends our season, I’d play ALL the kids for the final few games, there is absolutely no reason to play the players that are off at the end of the season or the loan players
