John James - Not everyone's cup of tea but this is worth a read

One thing about JJ Imatim, he's certainly been consistent in his views about the cheating hun refs in Scottish Football, he's definitely got Madden in his sights, you're right in saying some of his views might not be to everyone's taste, personally I find him to be a good writer who has given me food for thought on many occasions.
.............................

Yes, me too ?

...and I thought that Madden just made 'honest mistakes' !

JJ goes over the top a little ... but there is too much evidence from past and present MIB to dismiss his claims out of hand .
It does not need many 'honest mistakes ' to swing a game that is in the balance : the failure to give the Leigh Griffiths penalty in the last minute at Parkhead - so Sevco get a confidence boosting draw ;
Or More-or-less gets away with countless infractions - does not walk , and so allow Sevco to continue to dominate the match at Ibrokes ; Beaton sending off Boyata for dissent against St. Johnstone - that one didn't work !

Latest from JJ on his blog...

"A source has come forward in response to yesterday’s piece to apprise me that 27 of the 32 Category One referees are from a Rangers tradition. All 27 dreamed of playing in light blue".

Who would doubt this is true.

We really need to get organised and sort this out.

John James has his own agenda and that's his prerogative. I have no issues with that at all, in fact - I would go as far as to say that it needs these other voices (outwith our own) to highlight and protest against these matters.

I understand, that being a smaller country, there is going to be a concentration of officials in certain geographical areas - but surely not to the degree that is evident among our Grade 1 officials.

It's also difficult to test the veracity of these claims, due to the archaic level of secrecy over our officials teams of preference when they were developing their interest in football.

How difficult can it be to establish those simple facts at the beginning of their senior career in refereeing?

It eliminates any dubiety or second-guessing. Transparency is the future.......NOT!

When it comes to the referees association SP, revealing the team you support is what fast tracks you to the top of your profession

Did the referee course in Boroughmuir High school with Jim Duncan of Butcher and Chris woods fame.Fifteen of us 2 Hertz 2 Hibees me and 10 ludge members.Only six of us ended the course with passes.Jim told me never ever tell anyone you support Celtic. Not just in Lanarkshire guys☘️☘️
We're you planning on advancing through the system or just officiating at local level, Croppy?

Hi SP. I was on the committee of the local Sun. Morn. League. We had no decent refs so two of us went and did the course. The other guy left after 3 wks.I reffed locally for 2 and a half years.I listened to the team talks and the amount of “ Kafflick” hatred was unbelievable. One Broxburn team appealed a committee decision.I stood on the Dias at the SJFA and listened to a guy call me a”biest” bastard “and “kafflick”as he read his appeal. We had a copy of his letter. His team were chucked out and the appeal was denied.I am afraid we have more than the refs to contend with.I stopped reffing when I wrecked my knee in an accident.Don,t ever back down from them they can,t handle it.☘️☘️☘️

Really good to hear from someone on the inside, shocking stuff Croppybhoy but not surprising at all, the bigotry in this country is sickening, and sad to say it doesn't look like it's going anywhere fast, sorry to hear about the knee injury but if there was a silver lining, you didn't have to have your Sunday mornings tarnished by neanderthal racist bigots.

Thanks for that, Croppy. I've never really considered it from anything other than a playing perspective.

I'm aware that a lot of refs took a lot of abuse at all levels, but when some bruiser is up close and personal and spitting that much venom and bile, it's hardly a wonder that so many refs (particularly Catholics) drop out of the pyramid.

Regardless of what I think about refs at any level, without fellas like yourself turning up for games in all weathers and without knowing what abuse, threat, or even attack you're going to get that day - then there is no game!

Even at juvenile, schoolboy, Sunday morning level, that type of verbal assault you were subjected to should be headline news, either in the local newspaper-or even better, at national level.

Sorry to hear about the knee, but hypothetically - would you have continued and do you think you would have got a fair crack at working your way through the grades?

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Croppy. I think it's important that we all see it from a completely different point of view.

When i lived in Edinburgh in the 70's a couple of oap's I befriended tried to get me in the masons. Join the Waverly lodge in Easter Road. The mere fact I were a catholic got me blackballed, yet i had not been to mass in 10+plus years owing to work. Merchant Navy. Fast forward at my mothet lidge in England, 232, Somerset we had Jews, Sikhs and Hindus. The lodge were an old one brought back from Calcutta.
Well a Scottish lodge visited us before going into the temple I had a word with master of cermonies about non-masonic tokens and emblems being worn. I.E. Orange Order lapel pins and badges. The visitors had to remove them.
At the festive board afterwards hearing my accent some "brothers" engaged me in talk. On questioning said I were more a rugby fan than football (Played rugby No.2) When asked to choose a football team said My home town Motherwell. Asked to pick between Celtic and Rangers I said i pick the club most like the freemasons. Regardless of colour or religion Celtic has open arms.
Needless to say the visiting brothers withdrew to their side of the bar. One of them a PWM (Past Worshipful Master)came and asked if I were winding them up said no.
Told them lodges i had visited in the southern states in America were all white racist people whereas those in Oregon, British Columbia and California were open to all colours. The look of hate I received meant in 2012 - 2014 in Geoje Island at Samsung Shipyard doing commissioning work on newbuilds for Seadrill. Scottish masons had all their work checked and if not up to specification it had to be retested created hassle. Being a mason myself asked to sign for things only 80% correct. Told them "You want a brother to be untruthful".
I ran them ragged. Freemasons from elsewhere, especially Singapore knew the score. The orange order has destroyed the ethos of freemasonry.
You cannot be a supporter of the orange order and its ideals and say you are a FREEmason at 63 i know the difference. Lived it and have the T shirt. Referees in Scotland are bigoted and biased because they dislike Roman Catholics. They hide behind Freemasonary, they are scum.

As ever TT, your honesty is valued and appreciated.

For many of us, freemasonry is anathema; however, just like Croppy and his experiences refereeing, it is always important to hear the alternative point of view and how it affects folk.

Hope the pups are well, TT, take care and pass my best wishes to the family.
