22/23 January Transfer Window.

Well that the first of the World Cup players linked with joining Ange's revolution.

Canadian Alistair Johnston a right back.

If JJ is moving on I hope we get a fairly decent amount for him, £15m min but should be in the 20's at least.
Johnston can also play centre half and in midfield.
Think we'll probably get around £10m plus various add ons/sell ons for Juranovic, Johnston will probably cost around £3m.

Reports that Giakoumakis has rejected improved new deal and may be off in January.
South Korean striker Cho Gue-Sung, who scored twice v Ghana in World Cup, wanted by many clubs including us.
One out, one in?

Apparently GG & JJ, both under contract until 2026, were told they would get improved offers if they had a successful first season. GG has been offered new deal by club but has been rejected and talks have broken down.

I suspected GG was gonna be in this situation as you can see he is frustrated to be playing 2nd Fiddle to Kyogo ...would not want to lose him in January... for me he would be a big loss as his physicality and late goals have been vital contributions to the squad.
I've never been completely convinced with Josip all be it I know he is rated so happy to take the money for him. GG going on the other hand would be disappointing for me so early in his Celtic career as I think his attitude was spot on and he has great belief in himself and can only get better. I hope he stays.

Re Giakamakis.....I've never really been a fan....a number 9 at Celtic should be scoring at least 30 Goals a season.paul byrne, eyal berkovic and Tony cascarino have scored more goals against better Huns teams than the current one...the boy is a decent player but lets be honest here, he's far short of what we need..Id go so far as putting Kyogo in the same category as him...

Ange did say at the AGM that he was comfortable with players leaving, even players who are fans favourites, and bringing in replacements.
Giakoumakis, and Juranovic, leaving shouldn’t be a surprise. Both 27 yo so have one big move to a bigger league in them.

What do we need? who do we want? and how many of our players will be linked away?

We have a young left footed CB coming in from Japan, is he first team ready or not, Ange so far seems to have signed ready made players that are first team ready, although one or two have still to make their mark, is this young guy a change of tact? Ange has said he now needs to be looking ahead which I agree with. But will we need faces in in January for the run in, I think so.

Me I would still like a CDM in, and I wouldn't be against another goal scorer up front, you can never have enough.

Cant really think of any already playing in the Spl that I'd be after, at a push Devlin fae Hearts, but 🤔.
Is it true Giomakis wants an improved contract and could leave if he disnae get it ?

We would appear to have a decent replacement for Josip in Johnston, plus, Ralston is more than capable and is a better defender imho.
Geomakis would be difficult, but not impossible, to replace. A profit on both players would help fund Ange's vision for constant improvement.

IF the reported wage increases were agreed before hand, I assume an amount was agreed as to the increase in salary, so has someone moved the goalposts??, if its Celtic then the players are right to want away, or have the agents of the players upt it and Celtic refused?

Having supported Celtic all my life, I know what my money would be on, so unless they come out and tell us then the biscuit tin stories will resurface I'm afraid.

I know there is a wage structure in place and I believe that to be the correct way to go, but dont make a promise then renage on it. Shades of Moussa if true, but if they aint happy Ange says they can go, will we replace like for like??

If its the players Agents then Celtic are in the right here, sell and sell soon,in all honesty neither have set the heather on fire this season.

This is just the way modern-day football has gone, I'm afraid. The key thing here is to get as much of a transfer fee as possible to re-invest in a player who will be even better. This requires a keen eye for a player by our scouting team and management/coaching team. The idea is that you buy a player for £3m, sell them for £15m+ and then re-invest a player with a lot of potential who may cost £5-6m, so your squad continually improves over a period of time. If you just keep replacing these players with cheap replacements then you have a much higher chance of your "luck" running out and you have bought a dud and wasted the profits (see a long line of "projects" that we wasted tens of millions of £s on).

As fans, we just have to learn to enjoy players while they are here and move on when they leave. They are not diehard fans of the clubs but their loyalties lie with their families (and agents who earn their money by constantly looking for the highest paying deal possible).

I'd love them both to stay, Kyogo too but at the end of the day, there are thousands of players out there who would jump at the chance to play for us....our manager is our most valuable asset at this period in our history
Exactly Docco, thats why the board have to back him every step of the way, I've no problem with players moving on just as long as Ange is okay with it, he's already said a few times he plans ahead, we have to just keep backing him or else we could lose him a la the snake 🐍

I have faith in Ange's ability to replace them, if they go. I do not want unhappy players at the club. It is too disruptive and never ends well. We have just got over the last period of this, are now flying and do not need a repeat episode. Thanks and good luck with a bye, bye.

If you look at the teams in the World Cup......Most of the best teams have at least one 'great player' ......Messi, Mbappe, etc etc........When the Germans were winning major trophies they also had great players in their team.....Look at them now......no great players and playin crap.......We had one in Larsson, and look how good we were with him......One great player can influence others in the team.....History has proven that...

So.....why don't we push the boat out, and buy a recognised 'great player'....I'm sure Ange knows a few......say.....spend 10 - 15 million on the one player.......I know wage restriction can hamper things but surely we can overcome that........A player of that quality would be a super star in the SPL ....and would also help us in the CL.......And, playing for us, would make him better and get our money back....when the time comes....

Or am I bletheren a lot o shite......
