Champions league,

It's a good thing no doubt. Coefficients are nonsense anyway but is this as a result of our recent wins in Europa and perhaps the rangers results also?
A while back I posted on here, that Celtic /Ajax where getting heads together about coefficients, and it should be based on the club not the league, means we suffer because the rest here are not qualifying! hh

Video celts forum tonight ,saying the bhoys WILLbe seeded throughout the qualifying rounds,!!!if we get number8,which we will!!!!,if true hope that is a benefit ,and we take advantage, has to be an incentive surely ,hh
Don't know how they can say that because no team has qualified for next seasons CL so they can't work out the seeds. They know that the teams from the (big) leagues have got most of the group places sown up and final qualifying places. They can't seed other teams until they know who has qualified

It's based on the fact that there only 5 nations (amounting to 7 teams) who could have their champions ranked ahead of us. So 4 of these 5 champions would have to win their league and make the playoff for us to be unseeded in that final round.

One is Salzburg, who will more likely than not qualify directly for the group stage. Another is Basel, who are 21pts back in Switzerland. Olympiakos are 10pts back in Greece. Plzen are 9pts back in Czech Republic. Only PSV/Ajax are in a good place to be ranked ahead of us.

Of course we still need to win our own league, then reach the playoff ourselves.

This came up recently where I said that Salzburg wouldn't be seeded to the group's stages , that turkeys champions take the last auto-entry. I was then showed evidence that said whilst what I said was true Salzburg due to some other club or nations coefficients and performances would most Probably seed Salzburg. Does it matter ? We know if it's AEK athens or similar we have what it takes to progress past them if alls working as it should. The final play offs are among the toughest fixtures clubs will face all season f*k them all corrupt anyroads coefficient bs COYBIG

I think we end up being seeded most years. If we don't buy any players, if we have injuries, if certain players feign injury or seek a transfer or if we just crap the bed then we still go out.

Too true Ray the rest of the league clubs have let the Scottish coefficient down so badly in recent years and nothing is said of it until Celtic suddenly enter the cl at same time as the Welsh TNS etc then it's our fault for not progressing through a champions league group.

Cheers buddy

It will certainly help but if we don’t invest in better players it will amount to fuck all. I actually wouldn’t mind these extra games if we are prepared. It puts about £8m into the bank if we negotiate them. My fear is will we improve our squad? That’s a bigger worry and being seeded will not guarantee qualification as much as investment in better defenders.
