Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell to get BIGGER handout than other clubs as SPFL issue advance payments
The SPFL is set to hand out
advanced payments to all senior Scottish clubs amid the
coronavirus shutdown.
The
BBC say
Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell will receive £395,000 plus VAT as they are the top three sides in the Premiership, while other top flight sides will get £157,500 plus VAT.
Going down the Scottish football pyramid payments dip significantly. Reports suggest Championship clubs will land £26,500 plus VAT, League One clubs £2,700 plus VAT and League Two clubs £1,350 plus VAT.
All payments are set to be processed at the turn of the month with many clubs facing financial difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Scottish football season has been on shutdown since March 13 and it remains to be seen when teams will return to action.
UEFA recently revealed they hope to have domestic action completed by the end of June.
Some have argued this is too optimistic and uncertainty reigns in
Scotland at this time with some saying Celtic should win the Premiership, while others hope the season is declared null and void.
We told how one top flight side will call for the SPFL season to be scrapped.
A source revealed the Premiership side is ready to demand league chief Neil Doncaster to end the season if it cannot be completed. It has already been reported that the SPFL has no plans to void the 2019/20 season.
UEFA is expected to offer further advice to Europe's 55 member nations on how to react to the spread of the disease in the coming days.
