A novel suggestion

Looking at how it is other teams which benefit from the retrospective sending off of players and not the team that the offence was made against, how about this suggestion.
The time of the offence until the end of the game is noted and the offending player misses that amount of time from the game the next time the teams meet (as well as his regulatory match suspension(s) ). If said player is not selected for whatever reason for that next match up another player is nominated to take the punishment . In the Flanagan case this would mean sevco would start the next match against us with 10 men until say the 60th minute when he,or if not selected, the nominated player could be brought on. Simple. Anyone spot a flaw? Or is it too logical?
