We can't play Yang in a game like this, Palma is almost out of the door so for me it should be Valle or McCowan on the left side of attack. Probably Valle as he can protect our weak link in these games and Bailey for them is a flying machine on the right so doubling up might not be a bad idea.

Can't see us winning, a draw would be a good result, as long as its not another Dortmund

1-1 Idah

The dynamic of the game has taken a big swing imo.
We seem to be giving off a vibe that our competition has already been won in qualifying for the play offs.

On the under hand Villa are making all the right noises and are hungry to automatically qualify after their last result.

It's a game of fitba of course and anything can happen but my expectations have been dampened considerably for this singular match

My hope is we don't have any damaging scoreline with an understrength team as it stands and would take anything we can get from the game any which we can.

Based on our available players, and the high standard of opposition, I am going for a slightly more cagey formation early on (a 4-2-3-1, or 4-4-2 if you prefer to say 4 midfielders with Nic playing off of Adam). We can then freshen things up as required with the likes of Valle, Bernardo, etc.

I would even be tempted to play Greg Taylor as defensive midfielder to harangue Youri Tielemans and Ross Barkley to stop them dominating the middle of the park. But I know that Brendan would not go for that.
I'd be happy with a draw.

It will be interesting to see how Brendan decides to tactically approach this game.

I watched Aston Villa against West Ham. They were lively going forward in the first 20 minutes or so they scored and could have been 2 or 3 goals to the good.

As the game progressed West Ham came in to the game more and more. The longer the game went West Ham gradually grew in confidence and looked the better team and were unfortunatel not to win the game imo.

The Aston Villa defence looked vulnerable at times to me against pace and direct play and they looked decidedly dodgy with long balls to the back post. This is something I hope we will exploit. Kuhn will be a key player. He needs to be on it, along with everyone else. Our midfield has to be up for it from start to finish for us to get a result.

What stood out? Aston Villa looked a bit jaded with 20 minutes to go, and they are struggling with injuries to some key defenders, especially at centre half. With determination and the right kind of approach they can be got at. If however, they are allowed the time and the space to dictate matters in midfield, they will create chances, and they have the players up front to exploit things.

I think Yang will start on the left. Personally I would tweak things like some have suggested, and play an extra defensive player in midfield, and change things with 20 minutes to go as they tend to tire.

Let’s play with passion, controlled aggression and confidence. The Celtic way…

Absolutely buzzing for this tie especially when we have already qualified and that takes off some pressure
I love this new format but it’s wild 😂 if league stopped the now we would have Bayern or Real Madrid but if we where lower down on table we would have feyenoord or Lillie 😂😂😂
For me to make the play off game then I would need Celtic not to win Wednesday and first leg to be on the Tuesday as I need to go to Aberdeen on the Wednesday so I have 1 in 4 chance of making game 😟obv I want the win tho

I wrote previously that I saw Villa at Chelsea, and really wasn’t impressed.
Might be different at Villa Park but I fancy us to beat them narrowly, my worry would be if Brendan doesn’t go for them.
Anyway he can pick the team and I go for 2 1 us.

This could go one of two ways...

BR thinks "We've had a break due to the postponed game, let's go for it and see what happens - might make the next round easier?" or "We've qualified now, I've been left shorthanded up front by transfers and suspension, lets rest some guys".

I have no idea which way he is going to jump, but I'm jumping for the first option... mostly because Mrs YB is a Villa fan and I can't stand the thought of her having bragging rights for the next 20 years!

PLEASE BRENDAN, IF YOU ARE READING THIS - DO ME A FAVOUR AND PUT A TEAM OUT TO WIN!

I'm worried down the left. Villa are a big threat down their right!

Felt really sorry for Mings on Sunday vs West Ham, poor lad has had such injury problems and now he's injured again. I fancy Idah's chances against whoever they pick as a CB pairing now. Love to see us be a bit more direct, but that just isn't our style of play sadly.

So I am clearly going to be disappointed. We will put a sub-optimal team out, still try to walk the ball into the net, playing into Villa's hands, and I can see us losing 1 - 0, or maybe 2 - 0 and I will forever blame BR for a lifetime of p***-taking from he missus! 🙄
