Bring Back the GREEN BRIGADE

Is it right the board have banned these Celtic fans?

That was a different era and still very true
But I think its more apt in this era where over a hundred million quid has flowed into the bank account of Celtic plc, that they remember that football clubs are worth nothing without its fans.
This fucking lot in charge really need reminding of that.
I know some people would prefer it outside the stadium but i'm all for it when its a fair subject and not offensive.
It seems that in the boardroom their real fear is UEFA and their money which is fucking hypocritical as while they seek the CL cash, they've hamstrung manager after manager through under-investment.
Why not take the cunts to task if they fine us ? Ukraine v Palestine !
Did those that are apolitical in UEFA not ban Russian teams including youths from their competitions?
Ukrainian flag waving was allowed and we were all 100% behind it.
Why is waving the flag of a nation under bombardment political and Ukraine wasnt ?
The answer is UEFA only like politics that they’re in line with the hypocritical cunts
It'll be the same as when the huns cheated and they did fuck all even when handed the smoking gun.
It’ll be the same as not taking on the cheating cunts in black and their closed shop
This isn’t a time for band, it’s a time for backbone but clearly these cunts have none or choose to sit idly by ad long as the money comes rolling in
A fucking embarrassment to call themselves representatives of our club

Aye, not a lot I can say, that's not already been said.

The GB do a more good for the club, a lot of that's not hitting the headlines, than bad, just the bad gets the headline. UEFA, that's one fight the GB should abandon on the Pyro front, flags, Aye before my time there's was a wee stooshie over a 🇮🇪,.

The antisocial behaviour, a lot of talk about it, but very little evidence🤔

If they decide free speech is not acceptable then the baws burst mate??who decides What’s acceptable? What if someone decides the tri colour isn’t acceptable?….ano that’s far fetched!!!
"who decides What’s acceptable?"
The propriorters who host the events. Celtic fans are the lifeblood of the club and the marketing is heavily focused on the fans, but lets not be kidded they will eject on their terms and only if the punters and enough of them effect revenue streams will they consider some sort of a compromise. Celtic's first and most incentive in business is to make financial gains and revenue streams for their shareholders, welcome to the world of PLC's and if the governing bodies at UEFA set out objectives as to what is permitted the Celtic board will bow to them as they will not allow revenue to leave the club and comprise riches only achievable by competitng in lucrative tornaments.
if Celtic was merely a football club and the focus was on just playing football and surviving things would be different, but we would not be a major club reaping benefits in todays environment and certainly not a club capable of attracting top footballers, footballers incidently who's priority is to gain as much as they can from the game in terms of financial security, recognition and for some the ability to move onto bigger things. Just my opinion.

Absolutely sound points boab,🤷‍♂️would like to know how many other boardrooms across Europe banned supporters for pyrotechnics or their support for Palestine!!although your points on the financial reasons why our board are taking this action are absolutely spot on ,they’re still a shower of spineless cunts.

Celtic are entitled to make their own rules and regulations and if people want to enter the crowd then they must follow the rules if they expect to stay. Some in the GB don’t accept the reality of that situation.
Of course celtic can make their own rules, but why make fish of one and flesh of another. They set the bar by encouraging people to wave the Ukrainian flag in the stadium, but now they don't want to allow the Palestinian flag. That's the biggest problem I have. It's complete hypocrisy. It's fuckin sickening. And it's at every level of society. Even the pope is licking the Israelis arse.
As my father always said, the higher you go I any organisation, the bigger the cunt you will meet.
The bottom line is, there are over 10000 people slaughtered and celtic are worried about people waving flags in support of these poor people. Fuckin sickening. These people are being executed on a daily basis by these zionist pigs and the world is sitting on their hands.
Future generations will look back at this time and ask what the fuck was wrong with the people of the world.

The GB need to reach a compromise with the board, but they are a set of Ultras who don't want to be seen to back down.

Our board are toadying twats who suck up to the authorities and refuse to rock the boat, even when it is necessary. But as boab rightly says, THEY get to set the rules for what is acceptable for customers (😪) can and can't do. Obviously the GB push this to the limit and beyond. But both parties need to agree on a way forward, so a little give and take is needed by everyone.

The flags issue is farcical. If it had been that accompanied by a banner clearly supporting the Palestinian people then no problem, but the wording of the banner could be twisted to mean supporting Hamas, and so weaponised against the club. Ukrainian flags are encouraged (as were French ones after the Paris terrorist attack) but Palestinian ones are not? Supporting persecuted victims does NOT equal antisemitism!

As it transpires, the GB were ahead of the curve with many protests attracting huge numbers of everyday people (including a fair number of Jewish people) around the world, who are sickened by Israel's genocide as they attempt to ethnically cleanse Gaza in a very blatant land-grab.

The flares and smoke bombs look spectacular and are used extensively around the world (even at Highland League grounds). But they are rightly classed as hazardous so can understand why they are banned in crowded areas.

But UEFA are two-faced arseholes with their stance. One Celtic game (possibly pre-Covid) we received another fine for the pyros, but yet UEFA actually used the spectacular photo of the GB's Tifo with flares as the main photo on their own website for that night's matches!

I know the GB doesn't want to lose face here, but they do need to offer something so they can return and we can enjoy their passion again as soon as possible.

This term anti semitism is another made up bullshit term that is bandied about when it suits these cunts. The majority of Israelis aren't semitic, they're European settlers.
Arabs are considered semitic.
I'm just sick of that mudering cunt nethanyahu. The more you go down into the rabbit hole after him the worse it gets.
Five minutes in a room with him with a blowtorch and a lump hammer.....

You wouldn't leave a mark on that cunt even with a blowtorch and a hammer
I would volunteer to try right enough

To most clubs and local media, pyros and banners are no big deal. Their fans light them and display them and the clubs pay the mandatory fines that UEFA issue as routine.

Now, I'm not saying pyros & smoke bombs are safe as they are not when used in large crowds of people. It is only a matter of time before there is a serious incident somewhere so things will change then. But most fans & clubs don't give a monkeys about this issue. The fines are peanuts compared to the income for that match anyway.

I don't necessarily agree with this viewpoint, but this is the reality of the situation.

We are writing to you with an update regarding the Rail Seating Section at Celtic Park.

You may already be aware of recent communications from the Club to each of the ‘Green Brigade’, Season Ticket holders who have registered with the Ticket Office as being part of the ‘Green Brigade’ supporters' club, and to all Season Ticket holders located within the Rail Seating Section.

For clarity, the Club’s email to the Rail Seating Section is included at the bottom of this email. In short, as a result of the accumulation of unacceptable behaviours, the lack of compliance with the Ground Regulations, the Rail Seating Safety Code of Conduct and requests by the Club, it is not considered possible at the moment to manage safety within Celtic Park with ‘Green Brigade’ members in the stadium. It was therefore necessary to suspend the Season Tickets of all Season Ticket holders who have registered with the Ticket Office as being part of the ‘Green Brigade’ supporters' club. This is currently 267 people in total, all of whom have been contacted directly by the Club to explain the consequences of such registration, including the potential for action against all group members in line with the Season Ticket terms and conditions.

The Club’s emails outlined actions that the Club has taken in respect of the ‘Green Brigade’ amid the Club’s ongoing review of unacceptable conduct concerning the group. These progressive steps, including removal of non-matchday access at Celtic Park, removal of matchday access at Celtic Park and suspension of access to away tickets, have culminated in the suspension of Season Tickets detailed above.

Ahead of Sunday’s match versus Aberdeen at Celtic Park, the Club wishes to provide our Season Ticket holders with a clear and accurate update on the rationale behind the steps taken by the Club and the current status of the process.

As the Club has already stated and the group and its members are well aware, the steps taken and suspensions made have categorically not been imposed as a result of the display of Palestinian flags. The Club has explained to the group in writing the specific reasons behind each of the progressive actions taken in relation to the group. These are based on very real safety concerns resulting from the behaviour of the group. Many of the behaviours have been going on for a considerable period of time, have resulted in previous actions in relation to the group, and are very well known to the group.

The Club has evidence of these behaviours. These behaviours have been set out most recently in writing to the group on 14 September, 4 October, 20 October, 23 October and 31 October and follow on from similar issues being formally discussed and action being taken by the Club against the group last season. No response has been received by the Club from the group to these emails.

The Club is therefore disappointed with the attempts by the group not only to downplay the safety related behaviours, some of which the group has now publicly admitted, but also to conflate the reasoning behind the actions taken by the Club with the use by supporters of Palestinian flags. That is particularly so, when there is evidence of the group using banners and flags relating to or connected with terrorist organisations involved in the conflict in the Middle East.

The Club wishes to highlight the following:

•267 people who have registered themselves with the Ticket Office as being part of the ‘Green Brigade’ supporters' club (and were made aware of the potential consequences of this registration) are currently suspended for safety reasons;

•The Club is working through a number of requests from amongst that 267 who no longer wish to be registered with the group and will continue to liaise directly with these individuals;

•The Club is also working through other communications received across the Club relating to the matter and, following screening, will respond where deemed appropriate;

•Subject to specific action taken against any individuals found to be directly involved in serious instances of unacceptable conduct, the Club will offer and process refunds for any match or matches missed due to this suspension;

•The third instalment of the UEFA Champions League package was taken by the Club in line with the relevant terms and conditions, however, refunds will also be available for this match for any supporter who remains suspended for that match;
In respect of Tuesday night’s match versus Atletico Madrid, no tickets were ever issued to or charged to any Season Ticket holder registered with the group;

•The Club is willing to cancel the Season Ticket and process pro-rata refunds for any Season Ticket holder currently suspended should that individual so wish. Similarly, the Club is willing to discuss the possible relocation of any such individual out of the Rail Seating Section upon request; and

•Whilst efforts are ongoing to resolve the current situation, and on a match by match basis for any seat subject to the suspension, the Club plan to offer tickets free of charge to recipients who may otherwise be unable to attend Celtic Park.

The Club considers that this approach is proportionate and reasonable while working through this important safety matter and is happy to discuss any aspect of the ongoing issues with supporters or supporter groups.

Finally, as we have repeatedly communicated to representatives of the ‘Green Brigade’, the Club remains open to communication and engagement on the wider matter with a view to returning to a situation where rules and regulations around operating safely are respected and complied with.

Should you wish to contact the Club on this or any other matter related to the Rail Seating Section, we would ask that you direct your correspondence in the first instance to railseating@celticfc.co.uk.

Thank you for your continued support.

just need to hear the other side of the argument?
Yip. I'm just posting the message the club issued so folks on here can read it. I find it all very sad and it looks like it may be too late now for the GB to reach an agreement with them. The board have clearly been trying to break whatever power they believe that the GB held and looks like they are in the final stages of completing that. Maybe this is all posturing to have an even stronger hand for any negotiations/discussions to resolve it, or maybe they do want rid of the GB.

I love about 90% of what the GB do and dislike the rest. I'd say that wasn't too bad considering I'm a boring auld fart and they are Ultras. I certainly hate a lot more than 10% of what our board do!

Aye spot on mate,it’s a pretty shit situation,especially when this is the most important part of the season need everyone pulling in the same direction!!must say on reading the statement they seem to be saying the GB are a law unto themselves?which didn’t auger well for their future!!the thing that pisses me off is these bhoys are celtic to there core and shouldn’t be stopped from going to watch them??🤷‍♂️

The Board have lost patience with the GB. Some of them seem to believe they can behave in any way and still be welcomed. The Board are bigger than the GB. How many pyro warnings were ignored?
