This is my wee marco (photo at beach between Ardrossan and seamil on Friday) it’s our dog but to my partner this it’s our actual son (she loves the dog as much as the other 2 kids)😂😂😂…anyway just a question has anyone heard apple cider vinegar helps dogs with itching? Don’t know if it’s an old witch tale or if it actually works …..thanks. (Google gives you different answers)

What a braw pup.

Apple cider vinegar is one of the latest wonderfoods with lots of proposed health benefits for people. I have read that it can do a lot of good for itchiness in dogs, so it is definitely worth a try. AVC is quite a cheap option too not much of a loss if it doesn't do much.

Hemp oil and salmon oil are also good for their skin, joints, fur (but not so much breath!), so maybe give them a try too.

What a beautiful dog. Doodles are great family dogs. Our Beau was a Labradoodle and he was loved by all who knew him. Smiling Beau .jpg

We tried apple cider but we found out that chicken was the problem, we cut out chicken in his diet and he was fine after that. A lot of dogs are allergic to chicken and I think it's the processing and chemicals they use. We found out the hard way that our Beau couldn't have anesthetic, we almost lost him when he went in for surgery, to remove a small cyst on his paw. They had to stop the op twenty minutes in, as his blood pressure dropped and his temperature went through the roof. They called and told us they were keeping him for observation, after packing him in ice to get his temperature down. Good luck with your beautiful buddy. HH

That happened to my dog too. Millie had to get a toe amputated after it got infected about 8 years ago. She took a bad reaction to the anaesthetic and they just about lost her. Some dogs can develop this without any warning (about 1 in 400) and it was such a worry.

Terrifying when you get the call eh.
The term is hyperthermia, it's the opposite of hypothermia. When we got the call, the first thing the vet said was "Beau's ok, but we had to stop the procedure..."
That was a nerve racking 6 hours, as we did not know what was going on, only that they would call us if anything had changed.
Although he was only with us for 3 1/2 years he made such an impression on us and everyone he met.
Give your pets a hug they really do make our existence better

Sorry to hear that about your Beau mate 😟…..our Marco is now 5 still crazy and acts like he’s 5 month and absolutely love kids or anything that moves actually 😂…he’s been to vets a good few times especially with his ears but he’s been itching recently (not fleas or anything) so will try this ACV and if it doesn’t work he will be going back to the vets (the itching is not crazy but enough for us to investigate) he’s currently chasing my partner about the house while she is like a zombie trying to make her morning coffee 😂😂😂

If Georgia's coat is anything to go by, we're going to get a lot of snow this Winter. And for those who say "We never allow our dog on the couch" I present...our couch spud, easing into the morning ;-) Have a great week folks. View attachment 26825
Cesar very kindly allows us a shot of the couch now and then, but you have to bribe him usually... Fookin big bully.. 😂

A happy 14th birthday to my gorgeous dug. This is her just back from her morning walk. She doesn't like getting her photo taken, so her sad face. She is getting a wee bit sore in the legs these days but is still game for a play. Usually she has one of our cats cuddled into her. She is the best dog in the world. 💚

A lovely lady.

She really is the gentlest dog ever. Our biggest regret was not letting her have any puppies as she has an incredible mothering instinct. Growing up with our two cats means she loves all animals and wants to look after them. A nearby neighbour happily let her speak to his daughter's baby dwarf rabbit and my mother-in-law asked to have her when her cat gave birth as she knew she'd keep the dog she'd inherited calm around the kittens. They were just a couple of days old so would go and cuddle into my dog which let their Mum head outside for a half-hour of peace and quiet.

She is a charmer and knows all of the other dog walkers that have treats so will go trotting up to them to scrounge. Yet surprisingly for being half lab, she doesn't eat too much which probably explains why she is so lean and she is still so active.
