Celtic Pets

Our new family member came home with us today wee bundle of joy. We’re still looking for a Guid name for him.
He’s just fallen asleep on ma daughters shoulder.

HH🍀he’s a Tim cat
Whenever I see a ginger cat I always call it Macavity due to T S Eliot's wonderful poem.....

Macavity's a ginger cat: he's called the hidden paw-
For he's the master criminal who can defy the law.

He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard,
the Flying Squad's despair:
For when they reach the scene crime-
Macavity's not there!

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one
like Macavity,
He's broken every human law,
he breaks the law of gravity.

His powers of levitation would make
a fakir stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime-
Macavity's not there!

You may seek him in the basement,
you may look up in the air-
But I tell you once and once again,
Macavity's not there!

Macavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin;
You would know him if you saw him,
for his eyes are sunken in.

His brow is deeply lined with thought,
his head is highly domed;
His coat is dusty from neglect,
his whiskers are uncombed.

He sways his head from side to side,
with movements like a snake;
And when you think he's half asleep,
he's always wide awake.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
For he's a fiend in feline shape,
a master of depravity.

You may meet him in a by-street,
you may see him in a square-
But when a crime's discovered, then
Macavity's not there!

He's outwardly respectable,
( They say he cheats at cards )
And his footprints are not found
in any file of Scotland Yard's.

And when the larders looted,
or the jewel- case is rifled,
Or when the milk is missing,
or another Peke's been stifled,

Or greenhouse glass is broken,
and the trellis past repair-
Ay, there's the wonder of the thing!
Macavity's not there!

And when the Foreign Officer find a
Treaty's gone astray,
Or the Admiralty lose some plans
and drawings by the way,

There may be a scrap of paper in the
hall or on the stair-
But it's useless to investigate-
macavity's not there!

And when the loss has been
disclosed, the Secret Service say:
'It must have been Macavity!- but
he's miles away.

You'll be sure to find him resting, or
a-licking of his thumbs;
Or engaged in doing complicated
long division sums.

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one
like Macavity,
There never was a cat of such
deceitfulness and suavity.

He always has an alibi,
and one or two to spare:
At whatever time the deed took place-
MACAVITY WASN'T THERE!

And they say that all the cats whose
wicked deeds are widely known
( I might mention Mungojerrie,
I might mention Griddlebone )

Are nothing more than agents
for the cat who all the time
Just controls their operations;
The Napoleon of Crime !

The other day the rain was pouring down and it was windy, so I called her downstairs to head out for a walk. I got all happed up and looked like Nanook of the North, but it took a bit of coaxing to get her down to the front door. She came down when she heard me rattling her harness, I got her harness on and she ran back upstairs, I heard her coming back down, I looked up and saw this...she was probably thinking..."Hey, you want to go out for a fucking walk, it's pissing down and I don't...lol

We got her in for a grooming last week, and apparently she was great, well behaved and the groomer said she was a sweetheart. She smelled lovely and was very happy to have got her nails cut and her fur fluffed up ;-) She really is a sweetheart. All the neighbours love her, some even pull over and get out to say hello and give her a pet.

Been getting a lot of reminders and memories of our BEAU lately, this was him giving me a kiss at the beach a few years back. It was Baltic so we put his sweater on, even though he was a big furry bear, but minus 10 is still cold. And I know this is the Pets thread, but I heard this song for the first time tonight, and it sums up perfectly how much we loved out big Bhoy. Never ever forgotten, and loved by everybody he met.

We’ve had various names Barney-Ollie-Milo.
We went with Gizmo
He’s a ball of energy
But he’s loved to bits

HH 🐈
When they look like that jammy its difficult to argue against any name within reason, how could you not love such a wee ball of joy giving delight?
At that age with looks like that, as long as you're lucky enough to win have such a cat at all.
Its only when they get older we start to question ourselves as in ; what was it that made me think gizmo was such an adorable wee fluff ball joy giver of a kitten again?
