Celtic v Club Brugge, Champions League, Wednesday 27th Nov, 8pm

Sorry Bhoys I have a bad feeling about ENGELS.... looks like an over priced younger version of David Turnbull .......

Hope I am wrong ....

HH 🤣👍👍

PS! Watched Cal M after match interview..... Don't know which game he was talking about .....

I believe we were VERY lucky to get a draw ..... In short he said there was only one team going to win at the end...... 😅😅 I think he forgot it could have been 3 or 4 zero in the first half 🤣🤣

Onwards and upwards 👍👍 HH

100% Lubo, Paulo must be frustrated AF, watching from the bench every game. Jamesie offered some calmness when he came on. Luke McCowan deserves a crack at the starting 11 as well. A huge price tag does not guarantee a win every week, the game seems to pass some players by, but hopefully we get it sorted for our next game. HH
Brendan keeps starting with Engles then has to hook him??surley to fuck he’s aware how poor the young guys been?it’s not a witch hunt?it’s just blindingly obvious the guys not settled yet so take him out the firing line🤷‍♂️for his benefit and the teams,,Luke mccowan and Bernardo haven’t let us down when called on,,,,,and you can stick that international break right up yir hole💩we’ve no looked ourselves so far…

100% on Engels. Give the boy a break and give Bernardo what he’s earned.

It's easy to make statements after the event. It doesn't mean that they are true - although you are entitled to your opinion.

It is a decent point. Some players didn't perform to their full capability, but there are very few matches where everyone does.

I'd leave it to the guy that's paid millions a year to pick the team. He spends more time with them and understands how they tick. It seems to work well most of the time.
Went to plan B.

Zagreb away, young boys home, villa away, we must beat young boys.
A point is not a bad return if not what we'd hoped for, it keeps us 2pts off the top 8.
Another Atalanta type performance in Zagreb win another point and beat young boys go to villa aiming for top 8 hopefully in the play offs by then and free to play.
Not what we hoped for , another example of the quality in the champions league , I think Brugge will be more disappointed than us with the result.
Onwards and upwards HH

Well my first champions league game for 12 years was a shocker...great to be back in the old place but that was a tough watch...pass marks for Kyogo and Bernardo when he came on..the rest were skittish and looked like they had never played with one another ...impressed by Brugges who I feel we thought were going to roll over....flat atmosphere too

Other than that, I enjoyed it thoroughly 🍀

Good game, draw probably a fair result as they were better in first half, we were better in the second. The team looked spooked by their high press and couldn't get the ball out and get meaningful possession during first half. As a result everything went slow and safe so we created little and the o.g. came from Kuhn running back 30 yards with ball before passing back to CCV under pressure on the edge of the box.
Second half a lot better, Daizen causing their centre half all sorts of problems with his mad pressing.
Trusty our MOTM for me, Engels looks like he needs a break for a couple of games and Taylor yet again proving he is nowhere close to being good enough at this level. Valle not great either but still a lot better than GT.
8 points from 5 games is a return that would have been more than acceptable to the vast majority before we started.
We should be going to Zagreb confident we can get an away win.

If we'd taken the 1pt from Leipzig and 3 tonight we'd all be very happy indeed.
This new format, its all swings and roundabouts and we're doing well , still on course for play offs 100%

Listen we can all BS about what we know about football as AVID fans....

But BR is meant to understand that a child like ENGELS is NOT ready for this level....

And don't get me started about his corners......

Paulo Bernardo changed the game in midfield .....

How did RODGERS not know ......????

I like Brendan but surely ........

HH

Still on my way back from the game ....have to pleased to take a point from that poor performance.
Flat both on the park and in the stands.
They stopped us on both flanks and our midfield 3 were non existent. Valle and Bernardo made a difference. I'll settle for not losing. One loss in five ain't too bad .

To be fair, there were many posts on here before the match pointing out that Engels should be a sub as Bernardo has been playing to a much higher standard recently. Taylor has also looked a bit out of sorts, too, and Valle has offered much more.

No hindsight was needed - just observing their relative contributions over the last few weeks.

Now that may be different next month because as you rightly say, players form can usually experience ups and downs over the course of a season (sometimes over the course of a match).

But Brendan does get it right much more than most other managers, never mind compared to us fuds.

Absolutely. Seen us collapse enough in recent years to appreciate taking something when not at our best 🍀

I think more rotation is needed for Engels. He is coping with a fair bit, for such a young lad. Big price tag, massive expectations, new club, new league, demanding supporters, making his debut for the Belgian international side, same top side under pressure for not playing well. All in a short period of time. I think he will come good. But not starting every match will help him settle and find his feet quicker. We have good options to replace him with. So let's use them. It's to everybody's benefit. For me, it makes sense.

Engels was at this level v Leipzig, v Atalanta, v Slovan, he's a 21 year old Belgian international who has come from a league far better than ours, he's having a bad few games, it happens.
Leave him on the bench v Ross Co & Aberdeen, bring him on as sub to play the last 30 mins like Bernardo has been doing and start Paulo. Bernardo who was really underwhelming for the first 3 or 4 months after he joined us last season before kicking on.
I'd have thought the slagging Nicolas Kuhn got when he arrived last season and where he is now has shown that a wee bit of patience is required when players join us from overseas.

1 defeat in that run of 5 fixtures is an excellent return. 8 pts with 3 to play I couldn't ask for more really at this level we have to be realistic we are competing at the highest level. A home win over young boys will probably see us through but we can't think that way , we have to go to Zagreb and if we get something there that will be outstanding as well.
One game at a time , this could be a huge point for us.
