To be fair, there were many posts on here before the match pointing out that Engels should be a sub as Bernardo has been playing to a much higher standard recently. Taylor has also looked a bit out of sorts, too, and Valle has offered much more.

No hindsight was needed - just observing their relative contributions over the last few weeks.

Now that may be different next month because as you rightly say, players form can usually experience ups and downs over the course of a season (sometimes over the course of a match).

But Brendan does get it right much more than most other managers, never mind compared to us fuds.

Nah , respectfully he's ready for this level and he's making inroads to the Belgium side as well.
I think there are similarities between him , Oriley and Bernardo, the 2 latter were good first season but much better with some time Kuhn as well.
Just because he cost big bucks doesn't guarantee him.or us anything , he has literally just arrived though and is still settling in to all that comes with a move to another club and country, I'm sure we'll see the best of Engels in good time.
Cal and Reo were hardly lighting up the game either and both are settled.
Oriley, Reo, Kuhn all had similar problems on arrival Engels time will come, we are very strong in midfield as always and will need all of them this season.

Aye they've done worse than Scotland but they have real quality, the fact he's getting game time either replacing or replaced by Tielemens shows he's a highly rated individual.
I reckon /hope it's just a case of acclimatising to the country and our non stop sunny weather

The first half wasn’t good not helped by the own goal which effects not only the individual who caused it but the whole team well done to CalMac for getting them togeather quickly unfortunately it’s not only the player who got it wrong it’s the full team who get it in thier heads and that influences thier play not a excuse it’s just what happens ( the positive side they did not score ) at the end of the day we did not get beat yes we lost 2 points and we would have taken that a the end of the first half, some of our past European games have been disasters I don’t think this was not our best but not our worst they are still in there

A point in Zagreb would give so much confidence to this side but they are a dangerous side , like all in this league.
Young Boys have been really poor but I wouldn't put it past them to show up at CP, we have to focus one game and competition at a time , but we could possibly win in Zagreb anythings possible in this new format, but you knew all that anyway , just giving my gumsh a gnash

Any supporters going to the Zagreb game could be in for an interesting evening. Dortmond fans were complaining about being herded into tents before the turnstiles to be strip-searched and have their genitals man-handled by security to ensure no pyros were smuggled into the ground.

I hear that Jamesie Forrest is planning on entering the ground along with the Green Brigade with various flares and smokebombs secreted on his person!

If so, I think the club should fly our Pyro Pups to attend the game, free of charge, free tickets. Then supply them with loads of the most dangerous type of . When it all goes , disown them. That should help sort the problem.

Engels was at this level v Leipzig, v Atalanta, v Slovan, he's a 21 year old Belgian international who has come from a league far better than ours, he's having a bad few games, it happens.
Leave him on the bench v Ross Co & Aberdeen, bring him on as sub to play the last 30 mins like Bernardo has been doing and start Paulo. Bernardo who was really underwhelming for the first 3 or 4 months after he joined us last season before kicking on.
I'd have thought the slagging Nicolas Kuhn got when he arrived last season and where he is now has shown that a wee bit of patience is required when players join us from overseas.
