CELTIC VIDEOS

When we speak about world class players who have worn the Hoops, then I'd argue that Danny McGrain is possibly near the very top of that list. I'm not saying he was the best player we've enjoyed at Parkhead, but one of the very best anywhere as full back, on either flank.

He is very much a modern day player too could would have flourished in any point in history. He was a hard player, but very fair. He was a great defender who could read the game so well. But what a phenomenal engine too as he charged up and down the wing with a great end product.

And a lovely, humble and fun person too.

Celtic v some big names
Some fantastic memories there. Beating Barca with an injury-ravaged side on our 125th birthday is still my favourite match ever.

When Forster hoofed the ball up to Tony Watt my disgusted pal started moaning about it being a wasted ball after I'd been saying we could beat Mascherano with a long ball. 2 seconds later it was total pandemonium with a fan 2 rows back launching himself onto us to join our crazy celebrations.

I felt eerily calm in that match (only ever experienced it once before when Scotland beat the Dutch 1-0 in 2003). Everyone round about me were so nervous but I kept reassuring them we would hold on to win - even when Messi scored their late consolation goal.

Sadly, Tony Watt let the hype go to his head and he never reached his full potential. He should have been a Celtic hero and the much-needed Scottish striker for the next decade.

The night the greatest club in the world beat the greatest ever side in the world. 🍀☘️🍀

Well said BB
Yes, Tony became a journeyman footballer after that game.
Moved from team to team, and now he's more mature he looks a decent player, but he missed out, by giving it Billy big baws, and that never works out, especially in Scotland.
I can just image be the bedlam around you that night.
Never say never eh
HH.

I wish I'd been there that night but even just watching it on telly , I was in tears at the end of that game, what an emotional roller coaster it was , our 125th birthday , the tifos, the unbelievable atmosphere.
To see Celtic go out and do what do many " bigger /better" clubs couldn't and the joy it brought to millions around the world and not just Celtic fans, it was getting to the stages can anyone beat this Barcelona side?
No , was the consensus from 99% of football fans. Step forward Celtic.

When Celtic Park is in full swing like that and you know , that's my team that's doing the business, aye I've no problem admitting the tears of joy were rolling as I watched, jawdropping mouth opened outstanding Celtic jailbreak fitba'.
If I remember correctly we set a champions league record that night of a winning side with the least possession in a champions league game ever , something ridiculous around the 15-20 % possession mark.

We all have our unbelievable memories provided by Celtic over many years but this one was beyond special.
What a memory, what a night, what a club, Glasgow Celtic the club that keeps on giving 🍀

There was a lot of misinformation spread about the stats from our victory in 2012. A lot of Sky tv screenshot images saying Celtic only had 11% possession. But UEFA's official website states 27% to us. Which tallies perfectly the stats that were posted throughout the game on the big screen in the stadium. The last one I noticed was 28% to us at about 90 minutes mark. There have been teams with much worse possession than we achieved against Barca.

And yes, it was an incredible atmosphere. My voice was still fecked a week later.

Another game that I wasn't at CP to see ( maybe I should stay away on cl nights haha) that lives long in the memory like it was last season such was the 3-0 turnaround Vs Shaktar Karagandy.

Losing the first leg 2-0 in Astana, Kazakhstan, 2013/14 season so a decade ago now was a real shock to the system, as was their request to slaughter a sheep 🐑 before the game , " sorry we only slaughter the sheep on the field, be it at Pittodrie or CP it's a no" , this before a huge cl play off final, and well before clubs from and the country of Kazakhstan were taken very seriously or could compete , how that's changed in the decade that followed.
Kazakhstan, the European nation probably closer to China than Charing Cross cross or anywhere else in Europe

A world class screamer from kris commons ( soup lover these days) , big Gorgeous Samaras , Celtic's European goal scoring talisman , what a great record big Sammy had for popping up with super important European goals for Celtic to make it 2-0 on the night and 2 minutes of pre - var added time had been played it looked like this game was going to extra time.
Up steps Lionel Anthony Messi Stokes to twist his way through the blockade of 3 or 4 defenders, that was karagandys backs to the wall defence and cut it back for JAMES FORREST no less to score the winner and send Tim's worldwide into mega raptures.
Incredible to think Forrest has been playing at the top end of football for Celtic for the last 30years ( it sure feels that way).

Truly incredible , the stakes couldn't have been higher, a place in the group stages.
I will never forget NFL's Mourinho style sprint up the touchline to celebrate with the team.
That game was unreal for so many reasons it's what Celtic are all about, pulling off the impossible just in the nick of time. That sends everyone home drooling about what they've just witnessed.

That it was 10 years ago and James Forrest is still a first team player at a club like Celtic...needs no more to be said about the bhoys incredible ability.
Watching it back, the highlights also shows how much Celtic TV has changed over the decade...not 😅 exactly the same.
The old away goals rule was still in use and when they hit the bar everyone's heart skiped a beat, but the bar it wwasfor had that went in then even for Celtic it would've been game over.

A magical night, one of those nights when almost everyone can tell you where they were that night.
Myself I was in Tennents Bar , watching Celtic yet again pull out victory from the jaws of defeat.
The atmosphere on these nights are always something special to behold and this one was no different.
It meant everything to Celtic and the supporters. That was just the pub.
Magnificent memories that'll stay with me til the end of days.
Truly Herculean effort and reward, and we deserved it for our endeavour.
Love the ecstasy in the commentary teams voices as they scream " YAAAASSSSS ! GFRIT HH '

Another great night at Parkheid has probably been forgotten by most, was the Champions League qualifier against Spartak Moscow. We'd drawn 1-1 away and Hooper scored the opener. We then conceded and it went to a very nervy extra time. We eventually won the penalty shoot-out and everyone went crazy - including Tommy Burns which resulted in my favourite photo of him.
