Champions League Play Off Round Draw

This is where we are dicing with £40m.
Going into a tie goal shy up front with a three that has two back ups in the starting line up.

We should be winning this tie but aren't exactly awash with goals in the team at the moment but here we are.

Big Idah has to earn his strikers wages and do his job here if he wants to be considered a starter....he is currently no where near it unfortunately.

Some say the board are risk averse ....I would say the opposite they are taking a massive risk here for all the wrong reasons. Let's hope we have enough to get through comfortably.

People talk about the travel distance but its the same for them coming this way. That and the Scottish Summer weather  alone will make it a tough outing for them, ;)
It isn't the travelling for how it will affect us for this game. But it is the new Glasgow derby a few days later.

The weather in Kazakstan is strange as it really is only two seasons. A hot summer then within a month it turns into a very cold winter. Normally at this time of year it will be boiling.

I would prefer a 3 goal advantage. If it only 2 and we concede early - as we have too often in the past - then they get a boost and our nerves start to kick in.

Our CL record in qualifiers is abysmal. 5 successes over 14 attempts.
Lawwell's 'prepare to fail' mantra a huge part of this given some of the comedy defensive partnership we've had over the years.
At what point will he ever realise that investing in better players so they are settled in BEFORE these qualifiers probably results in a better chance of qualifying? We might not always qualify but converting the rate 5 successes in 14 to 5 fails in 14 would mean an extra £100m+, better exposure to attract better players and sponsors and a better coefficient.

But no, let's not change from his biscuit tin philosophy!

Ah but don’t you know that according to CQN ‘There can be no excuses’ for failing to get past Kairat. After all they haven’t spent any money (350K apparently) in years. So if we don’t qualify it’s clearly not the board’s fault…it has to be BR and the players who have fkd it up.
Lawwell getting his shots in now to cover his ass.
😤😡

From that perspective we haven't spend money either as we have made profits in the last few windows.

Wow, that's negative thinking, sorry BB, but that kind of does my head in.
We play, fuck the crowd, we play our way.

Yeah, it is negative, but we will be playing in a country where we have never won before, in stiflingly hot conditions, the players will have travelled over 9000 miles and these long flights are not great preparation for sportsmen. Then - unless we have strengthened our squad beforehand, which looks unlikely now - we will expect mostly the same players to start at Ibrokes.

Should we still be good enough to beat sevco on their own ground with the MIBs shafting us? Yes. But why are we taking such massive risks by weakening our squad when we need it most.

I still would prefer a 3 goal lead going to Kazakhstan. I have seen this happen to us before In qualifiers against sides we should beat. So negative? Yes. Unrealistic concerns without good reason? I'd say no - you will say yes.

I'm more concerned with the jet lag impacting the game against the Undead
That, plus any viruses that can devastate teams when going to under developed Nations to play these games, the food, the heat, but it's part of the game, so we prepare for it as best we can
HH
Wit we do is fuck them oot the park first leg make the return a walkover!!!….

That’s how you and me see it BB but Pete sees any money going out as SPEND…11m Arne, 9m Adam, 6m Trusty. He doesn’t recognise that was balanced by 25m for Matt, let alone a further 10m for KF, 17m for NK. Cash going out is an anathema to him.
