Chip's, where would we be without them, vaguely remember ma first 'chippie' was around 1962,there was a well known chippie in Haghill (part of Glasgow, which was well known for culture, philosiphical debate and tolerance!)anyway my memory was buying a bag of chips, then being asked, 'dae ye wanta salta and da vinegar? aye they were Italian, their english wiz better than ma Italian!,after much thinkin, mullin over this question, ah said...........aye! and what a decision! ah wiz hooked!,
next step wiz a roll!!! jesus, a roll and chips, then one day.ah had saved up enough money, tae buy a fish supper!!! food of the feckin god's!,then, ketchup and broon sauce sauce got introduced, noo that wiz feckin confusin'were ye a ketchup man, or a broon sauce man!!!,
that's when thing's got complicated, the merits of ketchup versus broon sauce were debated, sometimes spilling into violence, positions were taken, views hardened, there were are accusations of 'ketchupist and broonist being aimed at folks, people would stand in corners of a chippie, earywiggin peoples orders, if ye jist took salt and vinegar, ye were a partick thistle supporter, a ketchuper or a broon saucer, well that could've started a riot!

Anyway,to escape that hell i moved to england, but jaysus,it got more feckin' confusin', gravy!!!!!! chips and feckin gravy,
so after the confusion in Glesga, wi the neutrals and their salt and vinegar, then the saucerists wi'their ketchup versus broon sauce battle, which,by the way, went largely unreported!,chips and gravy wiz sound, but english rolls were crap!

Anyway, chips and whit ye put on them seemed tae me, tae be a cultural thing, salt and vinegar for neutrals, the saucism of ketchup and broon sauce, then feckin gravy.later, found maself in Europe, and chips became 'pomme frites',nae salt and vinegar, nae ketchup, nae broon sauce, it wiz feckin mayonaisse! WTF wiz that aw aboot,it wiz rife across the continent!although the rolls were rotten,in Paris a baguette stuffed wi' pommes frites, topped wi mayonaisse wiz pretty good.

Ah then found found maself in Ireland,aw man! chips in curry sauce, chips in cheese, chips in every phuqin thing!!!!!! even the rolls were good, eventually, found ma way back tae Sconny Botland, although there are many condiments and sauces available, there is still a saucist divide between the ketchupists and the broon saucers! Hat tip tae walter Black, who threw pickled onions intae the mix!
