Close season so its time for a transfer thread......

Wonder who is actualy handing out the contracts and targeting players i doubt in the time frame that the new fella has went round the bargain basements as quick

Ralstons had his chance he just dosen't have it even as back up theres so much lacking in his game and one good cross shouldn't earn you a contract
At a guess kelly, I would say we are only keeping hold of Ralston as possibly emergency cover.
Just got a feeling we won't play the so called rigid back 4 no longer and maybe Welsh would do the job if we decided to opt for that way of playing.
Nothing wrong with keeping hold to see if he can step up to the mark even if the odds are against him

Were still unsure on what type of system Ange will like to play yet Gary and still no idea as we still got no one in through the door yet.
Watching the euros, it seems the preferred option is a 5 at the back without the ball switching to the 3 with it.
Still believe it is our best option, especially with the current players we have.
Could Henderson right and say Luca /boli /Shaw/Monty /Taylor on the left, allowing Welsh, Jules and Bitton to tighten up and defend crosses better and not to be so open to the ball played into the channels with less space to pick out them passes.
That still allows us Forrest, Soro, calmac to provide cover for the defence and Forrest right, calmac left, Turnbull Centre to break quickly when in possession.
Of course a target man would be a must, who can actually hold up play and bring others into play, so still Ajeti, Bayo and maybe griff available to do such a job.
Work rate and speed of using the ball would be key, things we are led to believe Ange depends upon.
We still might have the bare bones of a system of play but a lack of cover remains a concern.
Would be very disappointed if we ever dip back into the loan market again as I still believed we used that policy to unsettle the changing room.
The modern game calls upon flexibility, something we never showed last season as we became so obvious in our play and never addressed our weeknesses.
Still think extra quality can be provided to give better completion for places, but until Ange has decided upon how we wants to play, we are still none the wiser on what players may suit him.
So this nonsense about being linked with every player under the sun is just that at the moment.
The acid test still remains unknown as to weather the players will buy into his ways, but with a more defined way of how he would like the team set up has to be a step in the right direction for once.
No one signed yet because we have no head of recruitment. Most of the links to players comes from agents trying to drum up interest in their clients, unfortunately under the previous CEO agent recommendations were how we did a lot of our transfer business.
I like the 3-4-2-1/3-4-1-2 a lot of the teams are using in the Euros. For us to play it we need wing backs for either side (although Boli may come back and get a chance on the left) and a left sided centre half.
For Postecoglou to succeed he needs backing not only in the transfer market but also with a functioning football operation behind him, at the moment he doesn't look like he will get either.

All points to Ange having a total run of the club in many respects Gary.
That's OK as long as Dom backs him to the hilt and Ange has a good eye for potential and players that fits into his ways.
Agreed with the 3412 system Gary and one that would currently suit us best with the players we currently have imo

Maybe Ange has seen potential playing him behind Forrest up the right wing.....
Think we need someone behind Jamsie lennono, and yet you expect nearly as much from a full back/wing back going forward as much as defending, sometimes even more in an attacking sense than defending.
The quality our full back's provided in both sence was appalling last season and finding another Tierney isn't easy nowadays.
Would be an area to see if Ange is really as good as it's claimed to see if there is huge improvements in that area for us

Agree John...LB has been our achilles heel...for a while(excluding Tierney)

Seems we’re still in the transfer situation.
We’re told we’re interested/looking at certain players. Then we hang around and the player signs for someone else or we’re not going to pay that price for that player.
Nothings changed. 😡

We have to hope Ange and Dom have actually done there homework now dungloe, Ange has identified the type of player that he would like and Dom has completed the transfer and wages we are willing to pay.
With Ange, only meant to be starting on the training ground in the next couple of days, you would be hoping that this area is being finalised and its over to Dom to get any potential deals over the line.
Still think it could be next week before any real announcements may be made, until then the rumour mill will just continue to gather speed and going nowhere

He had the opportunity John but knocked us back, another one we let slip away from the academy.
Would I take him back even though he said no,,in a heart beat, life is not long enough mate especially in this game..

HH
Agreed GS, but as I've kept saying until the coaching set up is addressed more and more of these youngsters will slip the net.
We are nowhere near able to compete against the riches that are on offer in leagues elsewhere but still believe a restructure in wages can be on offer.
A playing career can be fairly short in terms of landing that big contract most players are looking for nowadays.
Yet I believe Christie and ajer are meant to be only on 8k and 12k respectively.
This is still ridiculously low, compared to what they can earn elsewhere and especially what we did pay out last season on wages to loans.
Surely we should be paying more to the youngsters if we see real potential.
At a guess would making them big earners be on comparison to project earners within the bigger leagues.
I still think that the board are trying to hoodwink us all, in trying to make out the wages aren't available in order to rather line there own pockets.
Money will always speak in the football climate and maybe this also needs to be addressed so that the younger players aren't ready to jump ship at the first given opportunity to do so
