The Copa Libertadores final second leg is in danger of being postponed after Boca Juniors' team bus was attacked by River Plate fans.

South American Football Confederation officials have called an emergency meeting to discuss whether or not the final should go ahead, after the attack left a number of Boca players needing emergency medical treatment.

The bus appeared to be ambushed by rival supporters on its way to River’s iconic El Monumental stadium.

Bottles and missiles were thrown at the bus, shattering several glass windows. Boca’s players were then left exposed to tear gas fired by the Argentinian authorities.

The half-destroyed vehicle eventually made its way to the stadium, with Carlos Tevez and other players pictured leaving the bus in clear distress.

Local news outlets report that a number of Boca’s players were subsequently taken unwell in the away dressing room following exposure to tear gas.

Boca president Daniel Angelici immediately met with River counterpart Rodolfo D'Onofrio, as well as CONMEBOL chief Alejandro Dominguez, to discuss whether or the game could be played in such conditions.

Was the bus anywhere near Edmiston Drive at the time?

So apparently the Boca captain has been taken to hospital due to having broken glass in his eye, other players have cuts from the attack and most of them are suffering from being exposed to tear gas... yet the game is going ahead!

KO at 22.15.

The game has been postponed again, possibly cancelled altogether. Apparently the authorities will meet on Tuesday to discuss it.

There are currently talks going on between the clubs, CONMEBOL and FIFA about playing the game in Abu Dhabi. Tim Vickery saying he believes it will be played their in December.

The logic behind this being that the Club World Cup is in the UAE this year and starts on the 12th of December with the winner of the Copa Libertadores taking part in it, so effectively the winner of the game will just stay in the UAE for the competition.

This is supposed to be on tonight, live from the Franco-dome. BT Sport, 7:30pm.

I'll believe it when I see it.
