I'm far from a huge fan of the EU, but compare and contrast how it has treated the Republic of Ireland and Irish citizens in the North of Ireland in this mess with the way the British government have treated Scotland. EU has Ireland's back and it won't ever throw it under the bus as a member state, while Scottish self-determination is treated with malicious contempt by the British government and its Unionist lackeys in Scotland.

100% Spot on.
The EU is far from perfect but it's a damn sight more preferable to be an independent self-determining nation in a union where every country has 99% control of it's own affairs, has an equal say in how the union works and the power to veto what they don't agree with to being in one where one country gets to dominate, plunder the resources, dictate to, dismiss and treat the rest with contempt and as a mere extension of itself for it's own gain.
As far as the British ruling and political classes, as well as many English citizens, are concerned Scotland became a region of northern England when the Act of Union was signed. In their eyes we're no longer a country just a mere region like the SE or the Midlands etc. It's the reason why everyone down south continually talks about the UK as being a 'country' and why internationally Great Britain has become synonymous with England only.

As a child I visited London on a regular basis ,I still have family
