Feynoord v Celtic tue 19th KO 8pm CPT

I expected to lose tonight, but that was only because I thought the opposition were goin' to be a level or two above us. I have no problem livin' with that if it happens to be the reality of things.

Thing is, we lost to a very ordinary team; now I know, like ourselves, they have major injuries to deal with, but I still expected to see a half decent outfit.

We all have our thoughts and opinions; quite often we differ in those opinions, too. So here's my tuppenceworth: that for me, was an opportunity lost. I thought Feyenoord were as poor as any European opponents as I've seen in a long time.

The reason we lost? Well, of course we could look at what we feel may have been harsh decisions going against us. We could point to the fact that it looked like we were goin' in at halftime level.

But that would only be deluding ourselves. We offered next to nothing in terms of posing a threat. We were very ordinary. I reckon we had seven or eight passengers in the team tonight. I think, to be fair, it would be true to say some of them are better than they showed tonight.

Sadly, it would also be true to say works in progress just don't cut it at this level. Our squad lacks the necessary quality.

Never mind, we can take it out on Livingston in a game that REALLY matters to our power brokers.

One word sums up that performance tonight. Naive. Again, in Europe, naive.
They were massively under performing and we had a good chance of a point, or maybe 3.
lagerman should have been hooked at halftime for his stupidity as well as being slower than a weekend in the jail. O'Riley was nearly as bad.
But for me the worse decision of the night was the first 2 subs. Palma was getting into the game and Reo, althought not at his best would NEVER have made that fucking stupid tackle Holm made.
FFS putting a kid on for his 1st CL game in an important game we were holding our own in was fucking criminal. I hope he never wears the shirt again, prick. It was a sending off all day long.

The ONLY one with a pass mark was Scales.

Aw but the Ref wiz a hun, jezzus.

I was inclined to think like you frank on lacking ambition
The news overnight of profit and bank balances reaffirmed that thought
But the news today that we’re looking to settle the long standing issue that has plagued this club has given me a dose of realism
These settlements are never going to fully compensate the victims for what they have went through, but finally our club is going to do what they can to remedy in some way the sins of those that went before.
If it means paying tens of millions and a subsequent lack of quality for a few years and the club suffers a few years compared to decades these victims have, then so be it.
The lack of ambition thought we may come back to in a few years, but at least we’ll not be lacking any contrition for these poor souls
Can't argue with that STG. In fact that thought did occur to me.

Is this the actual time and place to be talking about that? theres a whole other thread to do that, not in the game we've just watched thread, ffs.
Always nice to give a civil answer to a fellow Noiser, Brim, and yes, I think the point was relevant in the context of the club not spending on strengthening the squad. So, I'm more that OK with my answer to STG.

Poor tonight. Didn't expect anything else. CL way out of our level.Taylor hopeless needs to be dropped, I hear you ask who for? Well that's the mess we are in. Didn't strengthen in the transfer window then that's what you get. Mediocrity, and as for Yang WTF never be a Celtic player.Good God he makes Wayne biggins a Celtic legend. We must have a clear out in January. This tonight was imo awful. No pass parks for anyone. I am 😡 tonight more 😡 than I have ever been. Two sendings off wtf. Why players do this sort of thing is beyond me. Holm I know is inexperienced at this level, someone has to have a word , because it is unacceptable you let your teammates down. Lagerbielke too what was he thinking 🤔.Brendan the jury's out .
What a load of absolute shite

A whole lot of obvious frustration from many tonight.
An opportunity lost is the overriding feeling for most of us.
We lack belief in any of these European games away as supporters because we have seen so many disappointing results over the recent years... we fear the worst regardless of our personell and simply hope we can somehow buck the ongoing trend.

I'm actually not gonna be too critical I thought Scales Johnston Maeda Kyogo all ran their socks off with Hatate and McGegor off it and leaving big O'Riley as the best midfield threat who then ran out of steam.

The result in the context of the sending offs was by no means embarrassing and might well come back to haunt Feynoord when the points are tallied up in December.

We are on a rotten run of luck with injuries and need to give the new guys time to contribute.

I don't expect Feynoord to get many more points from this group so for me it's a straight shoot out with them for a realistic 3rd place and Europe after Xmas.

Whilst I'm disappointed .....playing with 9 men simply writes off any chance we had of getting anything out of the game no matter what quality we have or don't have.

The guy needs " game time", like Tillio etc, how do we know what they can bring to the table if we don't try it?
Hard to keep a a squad of appropriately 30 happy.
Fair point Stevie, but he didn’t bring anything tonight and there was no basis to think he would, based on what we haven’t seen. As I mentioned few more questions for BR to answer. Players didn’t seem sure where they should be. Looked like horrible conditions to play in and the referee ruined the game for me. That said, the questions still stand, to my mind.

What a load of absolute shite
Tell us how you really feel caller😁
Taylor needed help tonight and didn't get it
The ref ruined it as a contest and I wonder if the language barrier was a factor at their first goal
Big Joe gave way too much space at the free kick but kyogo turned away as the shot came in...we live, we learn and we come back stronger
Couple of times we had the opportunity to shoot, but took an extra touch, and they hooked it away
We can get 3 points at Celtic Park against them

We are Celtic Football Club.
Our main aim is playing Football.
To play the best football, you sign decent footballers.
You can’t win playing football, if you don’t buy decent footballers, or if you have money in the bank and it stays there.
This transfer window was when we should have upgraded.😡

complete lack of quality and experience. Still we got 70million in the bank.

Nice to see you posting

Wasn’t as disappointing as I thought it might be.
We competed solidly for 90 minutes even down to 9. We are just lacking that bit of class that delivers . MOR might be it but think he needs freed up of his defensive duties a bit. Double pivot?
Anyway saw enough to look forward to Lazio at Paradise
