Fisiani is Dr Patrick McCarthy

28 months since my diagnosis.
I’ve now managed to lose 20.3 kg and feel well.
Managed to win a bridge tournament and won best speaker at Toastmasters. I focus on what I can still do and control.
There are 168 hours in each week and I plan to spend 1.68 hours 1% 100 minutes at most focusing on FTD but mainly focusing on living life to the max. Eat great food and drink good wine. Follow every Celtic match live a great life. Be positive.

38 months since my diagnosis of Dementia , Still functioning at about 95%!!!!! Can hardly believe it. There's a bridge trophy on my shelf again, I won again at Toastmasters. I play Scrabble online with my wife (who is my equal) and my average score is a respectable 301. I gave a speech at Probus recently which was well received and praised. I'm giving another lecture in Glasgow in July 2026 . I have no idea why I am still so well. My doctor is too. Having a diagnosis of Dementia is like having a diagnosis of a Viral illness. Both are general terms . What is crucial is determining the type of dementia, Alzheimers makes up the majority (65-70% of cases). I have FTD which does not affect memory much till near the end. I feel so lucky.

That’s great news fis..and long may it continue 🙏…being as positive as you’ve been also goes a long way in keeping the mind focused!!hope your lecture goes well, all the best for 2026…🍀🍀

40 months since diagnosis and so far still at 95%. Short term memory is still good and I still play and win at Scrabble and bridge. I'm head and shoulders better than anyone around me with dementia. I don't have anosognosis and know that i've got a few signs but still able to hold a decent conversation. I only think about my condition for a few minutes each week. There is no point in thinking about it. I am so lucky.

I'll be in Scotland in July and August. How difficult or easy is it to get a ticket for a pre-season game?
I’m sure it would be fairly easy to get one for pre- season game.
I think some of our regular posters who live in Glasgow would sort a ticket(s) for you Doc.
I like to think Celtic would go out their way to accommodate a lifelong fan who is flying thousands of miles to see a game.
