No coincidence that there are five places "up for grabs" through domestic leagues. England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France, the big five TV watching nations, will be the only ones this route is available to.

comfortingTruth - I don't think it is, they want their cake and eat it.... just not enough games. Fans will get bored.

They don't hold any power, the fans do!! Manchester United fans want to see them play Leeds, villa, west ham, Leciester etc domestically. They want to meet likes of Us, Porto, Valencia etc in the european cup who have proven they are good enough to finish top of their leagues.

It will soon lose it's appeal. How do you know it's a super league when your invited to play in it?

Spurs - when did they become a european power house that can change the structure of compeition in all of Europes Leagues. These clubs need brought down a peg or two, for just suggesting this bollox.

The issue is if we don't make a stand where will it stop? Will they have a closed shop for the Euros and World cup? Why have qualifications. For the Euros just have a mini league with Engalnd, Spain, Italy & Germany..... just have a wee think where this will go.

This is about sporting intergity. When Rangers went bust they had to start again and work their way up....and they have now taken our title. This what football fans in Scotland wanted, sporting integrity. You have to work through the pyramid, TheRanagers had to do it right and hats off to them they did it.

Celtic and TheRangers if we win our qualifiers who the fuck will we play in the champions league? Is there any point? We are past holders, but Spurs don't want us at the table because lets face it every other team is challanger to their money. Man City were in league 2 not that long ago!!!.

Where was the uproar when uefa were awarding champions league places to english teams finishing 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th in there leagues ,while champions of other leagues had to toil away in the qualifiers

The greed only affects EPL clubs they couldn't give a flying fk about any other clubs out with the epl so good luck with your petition atleast 3 folk bought into it

Kelly, you were right there was no movement then against it, eventhough we all knew it was wrong. I spoke about on another posts, champions league was just about giving the big clubs guarenteed more $. Now they want more to cover their debt.

CarlisleReiver - those are good points. All I'd add is that a distinction has to be drawn between fans in the traditional sense and television watching "fans". Man U traditional supporters groups based (mostly) in the UK might want to see games in the stadium v Leeds because they understand the history but the enormous TV audience they draw around the world are far more interested in Man U v Real Madrid. The EPL will be marginalised until the top six are playing shadow teams, much like the FA Cup has suffered now. That's why I say these 12 teams have all the power, because no matter what happens, Old Trafford will be full and millions around the world will watch them on TV. That equals money, which equals power.

Finding it hilarious to see so many football voices howling about the ESL being a closed shop. The EPL is as blatant a cartel as you could get. They have all the money whilst Celtic and dozens of other big clubs look on from the outside. I don't remember Leicester, Everton et al shouting for justice about that

UEFA should ban them from next year's competitions and allow only the winners of the league's automatic entry the other 3 teams should be made to play in the qualifiers without seeded draw you get whoever you get

Let them go if they choose to, football will always survive in some form, its clear they are no longer seeing themselves as a football club for the community, but a commodity to trade on in the stock market so let them go, they are merely the new Globe trotters and over hpyed performing millionaire seals.
