Players heads turned by agents, new to the scene, and lack of decent bonuses being offered by Celtic. Even Jock Stein was affected, he'd always talk up the opposition but not on this occasion. The lap of honour after the semi-final was also a mistake.
Young boys won't be an easy game. I know a lot of our fans think that is a shoe in for 3 points. I know my preferred game plan won't please many people but I think that we should play a 4 man midfield 3 at the back and we need to be quite defensive I would start with 2 up front. I know this is not the Celtic way but the win is more important than the performance. Adam may not be scoring freely at the moment, but his ability to be a target man is paramount. We cannot allow the opposition to play without fear. It's important that we play a European game with a degree of intelligence, this would allow Calmac to play his natural game,if you don't want to go down this path then play / Bernardo Engels as a twin engine with Maeda/Khun free to attack. My team would be, Kasper ,AJ ,ccv, trusty Taylor. Khun Engels Bernardo,Maeda, kyogo, idah. Not everybody's first choice but a solid team with enough Firepower to score goals and deny the opposition , the opportunity to pressure us. We need to remember that foreign coaches Will have been watching our recent struggles so we need to be different or pay the price. HH CoybigIt was shortly after that game that Evan purchased the Freehold on his 1st pub, he purchased the Freehold 2nd pub about 3mths later.
Did he not win MoM for his performance that night despite being caught out of position for 1st & slow of his line for the 2nd. There was rumours doing the rounds at the time he'd allegedly won big at bookies backing the opposition.
Was discussing it with my Mrs her being a Dumbarton lass, her family were neighbours of his mum, it was her it told me about the rumours,
Probably some disgruntled hun that started them.
I thought when big Liam came on the other night Brendan was going to go 3at the back... But alas no it was to counter the Killie Punt.. More famous than the Killie pie these days..Young boys won't be an easy game. I know a lot of our fans think that is a shoe in for 3 points. I don't know if it's our biggest game in a decade but I'm pretty sure right now it's a reasonable thing to say that BR wants to still be regarded as a top mgr so he wants to go through to the knockout stages of the CL. Yesi know he's a Celtic supporter but he's also a man with an ego, and he wants to be regarded in the same terms as Wenger, Mourinho, Klopp, Guardiola etc, so I can understand the need for him to want a result. ps please forgive the spelling. In my opinion this game Will show if he has the ability to play horses for courses and be inventive and use the tools he has available to push the team forward. CL football is a whole different Ball game to the spl and I fear that if he tries to play like it is a spl game we might come a cropper. I would like to see us playing a European game like our earlier games in the CL. If we do it I think we can get the result we want.HH CoybigIt might well be our biggest game in a decade Tommybhoy..
But Naebody on here seems to care enough to put a match thread up..
In the words of Delia Smith.... "C'mon lets be having you"...![]()

I've a feeling the Dortmund game reeled in Brendan's tactics a bit, and our trip to Bergamot kind of backs that up... Against Zagreb it looked as though we were scared to lose and as a result weren't our usual gung ho self.... I've no problem with being defensive, but perhaps at home we could have went for it, as I said at the time we wont know if that point was a good or bad one till after next weeks game..I don't know if it's our biggest game in a decade but I'm pretty sure right now it's a reasonable thing to say that BR wants to still be regarded as a top mgr so he wants to go through to the knockout stages of the CL. I've been an advocate of 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 for some games. But you are right - Brendan won't change it this week, especially seeing as it is at home. I would like to see him be much more pragmatic at Villa, even if it is "not the Celtic way". I'd rather play a tight game than be ridiculed by the English for being battered due to being too gung-ho again. But I'll think about that next week.I thought when big Liam came on the other night Brendan was going to go 3at the back... But alas no it was to counter the Killie Punt.. Anyhoo not a chance of a change of style on Wed.. Not needed I think.. Maybe next week doon south
I was 8 when we won in Lisbon. I can still remember it vividlyMy Da blamed Evan Williams for us losing that game in 1970. I just remember what it felt like to be 7 watching yer team lose in the biggest final, I was devastated
On to Young Boys our biggest game since Seville, imo
Me to. Like it was yesterdayI was 8 when we won in Lisbon. I can still remember it vividly
