Next Manager

Askou came through his audition with flying colours today. Not just the win but the manner of the win. Was in the pub earlier and one of them said that Motherwell could have been 4 or 5 up at half time they were so dominant.
Watched it and Motherwell showed no fear, no respect to them either, and the horde were in full voice with their booing at half time, and the end.
No idea who our next manager will be but we had better get the appointment right, and Martin and his team should be involved in the background, north men, south men, comrades all.

Andy Halliday didna look too happy when the team that pays his wages scored a late winner at ipox. The whole bench is going nuts except him. He just stands there.

Assistant Shaun Maloney has no interest in succeeding Martin O'Neill as Celtic manager, but is keen on the vacant director of football role at Parkhead.

Shaun Maloney has his eyes on a move upstairs to take on the director of football role at Celtic at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Bhoys’ assistant manager has briefly been linked with the permanent managerial job in recent weeks, but it is understood that he has no interest in taking on the top job at Parkhead.
Instead, the 43-year-old has got his eyes on his eyes on the vacant director of football role, with sources indicating that he is keen to take charge of the recruitment for the Glasgow giants.
Maloney has worked directly alongside Martin O’Neill in both of his interim spells in charge of the team this term, and has also served as the head of player pathways.
Celtic’s search for a new manager is still ongoing, and their appointment of a new boss could come alongside a switch for Maloney as part of an overhaul of the footballing side of the club.

Maloney as DoF makes sense of the re-signing of existing players and scouting/links of players for next season.
Would also make us waiting on Bobby Martinez for manager more likely, or make Askou the favourite rather than Keane (Askou's assistant at Motherwell was Maloney's assistant at Wigan).
MON for NED role, maybe even Chairman?

Board dragging their heels as usual. This should be sorted out asap. Clubs left right and centre sacking managers and getting replacements in straight away.
Yet we've known for months MON is leaving and nothing has been done yet.
It's deja vu same as when Eddie Howe was supposed to take over.

Unless they know who they want, an agreement has been reached and they are awaiting the season to be completed before making announcement.
If its one of the two favourites, Keane or Askou, then they will want to finish the season at their current clubs.

Having been successful in his first practical interview at Ibrox last Sunday, and being set for his second practical interview at Fir Park this Saturday night, looks like JBA is keen on the job

From Celts Are Here
Jens Berthel Askou has emerged once again as a serious contender for the Celtic job and this time, the interest is coming from his side.
The Motherwell boss has impressed in his first season in Scotland, guiding a squad tipped to have to fight relegation into the mix for European places while implementing an attacking, front-foot style that has caught attention across the league.
He's made Motherwell one of the most talked about sides in Scotland for al the good reasons.
Now, according to STV journalist Ronnie Charters, Askou is actively keen on taking the next step.
Speaking on the STV Radio Football Show, Charters said: “I know for a fact he wants the Celtic job.
“Jens is very interested in the Celtic job.
“He would like to speak to Michael Nicholson.”
That’s a significant development.
Up until now, much of the conversation around Celtic’s next manager has centred on external links and speculation. This, however, suggests a candidate already operating within the Scottish Premiership is positioning himself for the role.
Askou’s credentials are clear.
Overachieving with limited resources, developing a defined style of play and showing adaptability across the season - all traits that would appeal to a club preparing for a rebuild.
Whether Celtic share that view remains to be seen.
But if that's what he's doing with Motherwell, with the greatest of respect, imagine what he could do at a club like Celtic with a budget that dwarfs the rest of the league.
