Next Manager

If it is Keane then you would hope that this will be the straw that breaks the camels back for those who unquestionably and unwaveringly back the Desmonds to give them total control despite only having a 34% shareholding.
The next two biggest individual shareholders, Chris Trainor and Mark Keane, hold around 17-18% of the shares, they could team up with fan groups and call an EGM to begin the process of ousting the Desmonds.

Trainor and Keane hold preferential shares, as does Dermott Desmond and a few others.

Correct me if I'm wrong, those who hold preferential shares in the club are guaranteed circa 6% per annum return on their preferential share holding.

If accurate, a reasonably solid return on their investment, with the added bonus of their current share value having the potential to increase again if the financial state of the club remains profitable and sustainable.

Also, their shares could increase significantly more in value if there was a takeover forthcoming in the future.

If all this is correct, I can't see any of those who hold preferential shares rocking the boat. In essence, I would think they are on board (no pun intended) with the current fiscal strategy. Much to our dismay.

The Support to have a voice, has to collectively buy shares, to the extent (5%?) of having enough of a stake in the company to have the capability to call an EGM, if and when it is deemed necessary...

Yes it's ok theoretically but is it practical

I have principles, often too many principles but it's the way I was brought up.

Keane's employment in Israel is something I'd prefer hadn't happened when I see the genocide carrying on.

But sometimes there are principles that have to be set aside because it's practically impossible to do otherwise.

I try to buy ethically but quite often I can't. I don't know if that new top I just bought was made in a sweat shop by poor and uneducated children or by a well run manufacturer.

I will never buy a Timex watch after their abysmal treatment of Scottish workers. I won't read anything by D.C. Thompson because of their anti Irish and anti Catholic values.

If we were drawn against an Israeli team in Europe, are we just going to walk away from the tie?

This is one that I feel I have no choice and it isn't the main reason that I'd rather not have Keane and if he has to be our new manager then I'll support him...... until I don't.

Shammy we are going through a helluva lot of emotions just now. Do we want Keane or we dont. I'm only interested in the manager who has an outstanding CV who is up for the job. That rules Keane out no matter the fans view. I couldn't care if he managed Rangers but his CV rules out of Celtic manager.

Keep politics out of football?

Quote from Celtic chairman Bob Kelly after Celtic refused to play any Eastern European country in the European Cup due to the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia 1968.

" Celtic Football Club can hold its head up for what we have done. There are things more important than money to Celtic" . ( The times are a changin' )

That quote probably isn't verbatim, but I'm sure it's close enough.

Shammy makes completely valid points; sometimes it's next to impossible to live by our principles. As for being drawn against Israeli opposition? Jeez, is it still possible to buy askit powder ?

Some emotional midgets on here as far as Robbie Keane is concerned. Do any of us have control of who becomes our new manager ? NO. Do we get our knickers in a bunch because of it...well, for me...again...NO. but some do. We do our best to be the best person we can. If he's the manager, I will back him, and the team. Does my crust in with all the 'holier than thou bullshit' Buy what you want, shop where you want, without fear of anyone slagging or berating you...it's nobody's business but your own. It's fitba, so watch it, and enjoy...but stop with the over the top wringing of hands bullshit. Have a pleasant week...or don't...couldn't give a MUNKYS. HH
