Referees close to going on strike

Its all the proof we need to show they are using everything they can think of to make sure they stop the eight iar.
All this complaining by refs is just one in their many crooked ideas to add to their unaccountability, and untouchability, and must use in case we get too close to the ten.
They think we are stupid and this is all adding in their favour, and if we don't do something now .....its gone........and it wont happen again in any of our lifetimes...........
WE have to do something in the way of mass protests, marches or surround Hampden with placards taking it to a wider audience to put them on the back foot again....if we don't then I'm convinced the cheating from filthy bastards like Beaton is ONLY the start.

Talking of threats quite a lot banded about in this release.

Stewart Regan has told Scotland’s Football League clubs that they hold the very future of the game in their hands.
Speaking on the day the SPL ‘unanimously’ rejected Rangers’ application to play in the top flight, the SFA chief executive warned to expect a long, slow death for Scottish football unless a newco Ibrox club are admitted to the First Division.
Regan even claimed that Scotland could face ‘social unrest’
if Rangers could not be accommodated within the country’s league structure.
SFL clubs have now been asked to admit a heavily sanctioned newco Rangers at an EGM expected to meet next week. Partick Thistle and Clyde, however, were just two clubs on Wednesday to issue strongly-worded statements accusing the governing body and the SPL of dishonesty and blackmail.
Yet Regan, putting aside fears for sporting integrity, pleaded that his plan was the only way of preventing a £16million black hole and a financial disaster.
‘The only solution for the game now is that Rangers come into the Football League and they come into it at the First Division,’ insisted the SFA’s chief executive.
‘If Rangers were to go anywhere other than the First Division then there would be somewhere in the region of £15.7million worth of losses.
‘For the bigger clubs at the top of the league that’s half their annual distributions. For clubs at the bottom it’s basically wiping out their entire distributions. For some of the smaller clubs it’s a huge proportion of their annual turnover.

‘If you have an understanding with the banks immediately you cannot satisfy your debt.
‘St Mirren have already stated they would face a severe financial backlash if they lost their TV money.
‘Perhaps clubs could survive for a short period of time, but it’s not sustainable.
‘The game is not sustainable, so there would be a slow, lingering death for the game in Scotland. It would then trickle down to the Football League.
From our perspective as the governing body, we cannot allow that to happen.
There are no winners. There are only losers in this and it is just a case of how much is going to be lost.’
End of old firm: There will be no league clash next season
The SFA and SPL have warned SFL clubs that Sky and ESPN want Rangers back in the SPL by season 2013-14.
Admitting he can do nothing if Rangers fail to gain promotion from the First Division, Regan nevertheless insisted that the accommodation of a footballing ‘institution’ was in everyone’s interests.
We are faced with a situation some say is meltdown and some say Armageddon and whichever way you look at it it’s not a healthy future for the game,’ he added.
Already a number of clubs are saying they would have no alternative other than to go into administration if they can’t see a guaranteed distribution that satisfies their costs for next season.
‘We have had dialogue with the broadcasters, through the SPL and we understand what the various stakeholders from Sky television, ESPN, Sport Five and a number of their other commercial partners are likely to do in the event Rangers are not in either of the top two tiers. It’s not pretty.

‘There is a lot of emotion around this subject because Rangers are a huge institution in Scottish football history and they are where they are.
‘But without Rangers there is social unrest and a big problem for Scottish society.’
Yet the ill-feeling within SFL clubs at their treatment by the Hampden powerbrokers was illustrated last night by Cowdenbeath chairman Donald Findlay QC.
A former Rangers director, Findlay insisted the Fife club would not be pressurised into voting for Rangers to be dropped into the First Division.
‘Speaking for myself, and myself alone, it is clear to me that people at the highest levels of our game have tried to hold a gun to my head and the heads of my colleagues,’ he said. ‘That will never work. But I have a long memory and will not forget what they tried to do and the way they tried to bend me, and this club, to their will. That will never be allowed to happen.’

"After the arrest of Rosa Parks, black people of Montgomery and sympathizers of other races organized and promoted a boycott of the city bus line that lasted 381 days. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was appointed the spokesperson for the Bus Boycott and taught nonviolence to all participants. Contingent with the protest in Montgomery, others took shape throughout the south and the country. They took form as sit-ins, eat-ins, swim-ins, and similar causes. Thousands of courageous people joined the “protest” to demand equal rights for all people." http://www.rosaparks.org/biography/

Boycotts can work!
If Celtic fans stopped travelling to away games in the SPFL then other teams would sit up and take notice.
Clubs such as Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, and Sevco might not suffer too much but the others are like remora fish! They are so attached to a big team (for revenue) that they could not prosper long-term without the crumbs that fall from our mouths. I am confident that even with just token support Celtic can dominate the league and cups......but without the ´Celtic Pound´ smaller clubs would be much worse off.
The only prob with boycotts, is that the bhoys won’t have support, you can bet the scum would not boycott, see what you mean, but think how this is transpiring is the best way,so long as we keep up the social media pressure, from all the sites, and vigorously protest, well ,let see where it goes, hh

Football referees are a strange breed. On the one hand they say they should be respected as its a v difficult job and you can't please everyone. Ok we get that.
Yet they refuse to offer any explanation of their decisions. They will not allow post match reports to be published, they will not allow officials to do post match interviews with tv. Managers who do interviews on TV who dare to criticise them are brought up on a charge, fined and sometimes banned to the stands. Only when they retire and are looking to boost their income do they go on TV and offer their opinions.
Look at Rugby, they referees can be clearly heard by everyone giving their judgements to players. They are not afraid they will get something wrong. Their conversations with the tv referee can be clearly heard by all.
There have been many bad decisions made this year by officials in Scotland yet now there is talk of them going on strike because people are getting fed up with all the errors THEY make.
You cannot have your cake and eat it.
Be more open, come out and offer explanations. Dont pose for photos with fans in Pubs. Don't do after dinner speeches bragging about how you turned a blind eye to blatant thuggery because of the player or team wore the wrong (in your eyes) coloured shirt, or the player said something previously that you didn't agree with.
RESPECT is a two way street. If you want it, give it.

More blackmail from the MIB. They want to be totally untouchable and unaccountable for the cheating they are a part of. Screw them.

......................

A LEADING referee accused senior footie figures of pushing them to the verge of revolt, insisting: “A strike won’t be far away.”

The Grade One whistler says they have reached breaking point after a number of high-profile incidents of “abuse”.

We can reveal informal talks have taken place about a walkout threatening the Premiership restart after the winter break on January 23

It comes after Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibs moaned about officials, while two refs were assaulted and John Beaton received vile phone threats.

The source said: “The big question now is how do we resolve this.

“The feeling among many of us is that a strike won’t be far away and most of us if asked to vote on it will vote for it.

In recent weeks we’ve had clubs such as Rangers and Celtic coming out with comment after games because they didn’t get the result they wanted. Craig Levein at Hearts has also been very critical of us. All this is fine but the SFA should be stepping in and dealing with these clubs and individuals.”

He added: “We are made out to be the bad ones and I’ve had abuse from fans when out doing my shopping with my family.

Yes in every game the ref will make mistakes — we’re only human.

“If you tallied up mistakes made by the referee and an individual player over 90 minutes they will make far more mistakes than us but fans don’t go after them.

But these clubs and managers do it and everyone jumps on the bandwagon — it’s ridiculous.”

A walkout would be a repeat of 2010 when all of Scotland’s 31 top officials — employed by the SFA — voted for a one-day strike.

It came after they claimed the governing body wasn’t doing enough to protect them — with colleagues from Israel, Luxembourg and Malta drafted in for games. The insider added:“The current situation is worse than the one in 2010.”

In October, linesman Calum Spence’s head was “burst open” after Gers fan thug Stuart McGaughay, 30, hit him with a coin at Livingston.

And we told how Mr Beaton called in cops last week after getting threats when his mobile number was leaked online following the controversial Old Firm match at Ibrox.

And a week earlier Calum Scott, 29, was assaulted during a Juniors clash between Glenafton Athletic and Cambuslang Rangers.

Our source said: “How does anyone think it’s acceptable to launch a coin at someone purely because they are an official?

“This in itself shows how toxic the current situation is. If the SFA started issuing larger fines or docking points maybe then fans will realise they can’t beh-ave the way they are.”

Prospect Union, who represent many refs, said at the weekend the situation was at “crisis point”. They said: “All professional football organisations have a responsibility to lead by example and do everything to deter behaviours that affect officials’ health and safety.

One member described the current situation as the worst atmosphere and environment he has seen for over a decade.”

Labour MP Iain Murray – the former Foundation of Hearts Chairman – urged the SFA to “do everything” to prevent a walkout.

He added: “If they strike it would have a difficult impact on the playing of games and resources available to clubs in terms of playing those games and whether or not we’d be able to finish league and cup competitions this season.”

The SFA said: “We won’t be commenting.”
This has to be great news for the common honest man. Let them strike indefinitely, bring in foreign Refs, we just might see the odd honest mistake, instead of the current torrent of inexplicable shambles that we suffer from the current bunch. Great news for scottish football & its integrity.

Thanks Boab for your post an excellent reminder of what happened back then.

So we are correct Scottish football cannot survive without a strong Sevco.

Scottish society will be in a state of ‘unrest’ without a strong Sevco.

The ‘sky deal’ will not work withou a strong Sevco.

The referees are just doing what is best for Scottish football by cheating all teams on the park but they need to go that bit further with Celtic to ensure a strong Sevco.

We are all doomed if the ‘mighty Sevco’ go to the wall and this is what we are witnessing the threats to strike action and no doubt the sky money will rear its head soon enough all because Scottish Football cannot survive without a strong Sevco.

I know the above statement from Boab1916 says so much more but what jumped out at me was their justification for all their changing of the rules both on and off the park to suit one club. Everything for one club and to hell with everyone else their supremacy in action.

So go on Strike and let us have the fair playing field we’ve never had thanks to the recruits from LRA the MIB.

I must agree yes Referee's please go on strike but what we have to be aware of is that MSM plus BBC/STV and SFA will try to blame Celtic for this strike same as last strike some things r worth going extra mile for YNWA
Totally agree M8 what other profession do you keep your job after repeatedly making an arse of it time after time and then being able to go on strike before you get your marching orders. HH??

You make a valid point Ray, but if I may misuse an ancient adage "No pain - No gain".
We are never going to have the level playing field we seek unless we hit the other stakeholders in their pockets.

True enough, suppose it is up to individuals to do as they see fit,!certainely would hit them in the pocket, especially the less supported clubs ,!would 100%agree,but,at this moment in time we need the fan backing to make sure we get 8,however it is wait and see, think this social media outcry is bringing this to the fore, they will break before us am sure, needs folks like you, me and all the other super fans in all the sites to keep at the top off the page ,hh

said after the dallas penalty award against the sheep, that it was deflection,to debunk the"honest mistake" issue, paranoia... no paranoid enough!!!

Beaton,Madden, some man from Prospect union funny no other ref has put thier hand up in support, so far all we have heard is the may go on strike, what is thier reason for this ??? Because the supporters are getting on thier case and quite right too, what ever your role in life if you get it wrong you will be taken to task,in this case the task is justified, the evidence is plain as day, if Prospect think they have reasons for this action then please I am sure the media will print it for you

Everyone knows about the incidents you quoted but know one wants to do anything about it,for years as any Celtic supporter will tell you decisions taken against our club some totally unexplained but swept to aside as honest mistakes, for myself the views of the SFA the SPFL are as twisted as they come hidden behind closed doors, passed from pillar to post until they are lost in time , The fact that Beaton went to a pup full of sevco supporters after the game exposes thier complete contempt for fair play, any other organisation would have him in to explain his actions, there's is no way in this world that they can say He refereed in a fair and honest manor, but they will

It would appear that Morelos actions in the last game against Celtic has come to the notice of The Times, the reaction of our supports on twitter has lead them to comment that it is the Bampots on the Internet that is setting the media agenda, because of the the outpouring of feelings expressed Celtic have requested a meeting with SFA to discuss the report of submitted by Beaton that was 6 days ago and as yet they have not received a reply, sorry but how difficult is it to say to Beaton you need to come to a meeting with Celtic tomorrow at 10 am,this is just another delaying tactic in the hope that that it disappears, we can't let this die we need to keep up the pressure HH
