For the second time in less than a month Nick Walsh will referee a Celtic SPFL match.

The Glasgow based school-teacher was in charge of the March 4 victory away to Aberdeen, on Sunday he will referee the visit to Dundee United.

That double appointment comes soon John Beaton was also given two rapid appointments. He was in charge of the March 1 Glasgow Derby at Ibrox followed by Saturday’s home win over Motherwell.

Dundee United, Celtic

With 18 officials refereeing in the Premiership this season it seems like overkill to have the same referee twice inside 20 days.

Sunday’s match will be the fifth time that Walsh has refereed Celtic this season.

CELTIC AND NICK WALSH

As well as the Pittodrie match he refereed the 4-0 win over Dundee United in January which saw Martin O’Neill back in the home dug out.

In November he refereed a lively League Cup semi-final at Hampden as well as October’s 2-1win away to Hibs.

This season Walsh has been the only SFA official to take charge of a Champions League match, being in the middle for matches involving Copenhagen, Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon.

Celtic kick-off Sunday’s match after both of their title rivals have been in action on Saturday.

Martin O’Neill will take note of Saturday’s matches, he may well attend the Tynecastle clash between Hearts and Dundee, but the focus is fully on Celtic.

Three SPFL wins before the SPFL split will put the hoops in a great position.

Victories at Tannadice and a fortnight later at Dens Park would leave Celtic in a favourable situation with four of their last six matches at home.

Celtic will have Auston Trusty available again after suspension.

After missing the 3-1 win over Motherwell through injury attention will be on whether Callum McGregor and Julian Araujo are fit and available.
