Scottish clubs in Europe

To me this HAS to be on the whole structure of the Scottish game.
The suits that are running it have to take responsibility for this.
It needs a massive overhaul, starting with them. Not fit for purpose.
100%. Restructure the leagues to reduce the number of matches. Get rid of the horrendous number of midweek matches, have an extra week's break at summer and a winter break.

Have localised leagues beneath the top league to boost interest and crowds with more derbies.

Reintroduce a proper reserve league so youth and fringe players can develop better. Showcase these games properly too to get interest going.

Think about how to make the product look better on tv. Small things like placing tv cameras across from main stands rather than in them so the crowds look bigger. Reduce ticket prices to encourage people to return. Have better deals for youngsters to grab the next generation of fans.

There are so many things to try but we are run by a group of blazers who behave like a village bowling club who only care about keeping things as they are.

Break the stranglehold of the LRA on officiating matches.

It's a shit show mate. Most clubs in Scotland have been living off our coat tails for years. Look, we all know Sky only want the Glasgow Derby games.
The other teams are not watchable, that's the hard fact. I'm not having a go at them and I actually admire their fans for sticking with them when we win most trophies.
We need to leave the Scottish league imo.
Spot on Brim. The only time I see any of the other teams in the league is when we play them, like most of us on here. Occasionally I will watch the highlights on fast forward to see the goals

Great ideas BB . You're too intelligent for the likes of us. 🤓

A reserve league is crucial for player development. Youngsters and unused squad players, guys coming back fae injury all get to play in real games. The young guys get to mix with first team players. It can only be good for the game. Look at the past, all the Celtic greats started out in a proper reserve league with a clear pathway to the first team if you were good enough.
I remember a time in the early 90s when a reserve game v them at The House of Bams had an attendance of over 20,000.
The SFA should fund a reserve league.

I've said before that it shouldn't be restricted to just Premiership clubs. If some of them don't want to participate then fine. If some of the lower teams do then invite them. Even set up a system where the lower division teams can play combined teams (e.g. the Angus clubs, Fife clubs, Glasgow & Lanarkshire clubs, etc).

It just requires creative thinking to solve the problems rather than searching for reasons not to do it. Get a deal with BBC Alba or the like to broadcast games. It won't be a revenue generator in itself, but will boost the profile and stimulate interest.

Just try something to improve the development of young Scottish players - say insist on a minimum of 6 Scottish players and 6 under 25 year olds on the pitch at any one time. Not only will it strengthen our league but boost the international side too.

FFS - the clubs could even launch a new slightly different set of strips for the reserves (I thought that cash-grabbing scheme might get our board's interest!!!).

Scottish football fans set a new WORLD RECORD in the midweek European fixtures. 2.8% of the country attended the four games across three days. That is a new world record for UEFA or FIFA competitions.

57,233 at Celtic Park
44,784 at Ibrox
19,466 at Easter Road
18,954 at Pittodrie

The Scottish Premiership has also been the most watched league per head of population anywhere in the world, every year for the last 8 years.

It’s a pity the TV deals don’t reflect this

Wee need Scottish and Irish to stop watching that shit show in England and start watching our own games
too many folk support english sides and not just as 2nd club some have them as main club
The Irish are the worst for it the full 32 counties is full of English glory hunters
(My younger family members are in the same bracket sadly)
I support Liverpool because it’s links to Ireland
Aww shut up and give me peace your 14 and you don’t support them because they have a ferry to Ireland it’s because they are successful
While your at it google its founders and put on your sash while your at it (my usual conversation with my younger cousin who is born and bred from cork) don’t worry he thinks I’m a pain in ass too like some on here 😂😂😂🍀

Tremendous effort from all involved
Including the smaller clubs

I looked up the stats when everyone went to Germany for the Euros.
In Scotland 21 per 1000 people go to a game regularly. (65% higher than the next highest) The next highest was the Dutch with 12 per 1000 people. The English were 11 per 1000 if I mind right.
We really are fitbaw crazy!

I didn’t know where to post this but anyway this is my first memory of Celtic in Europe
Think it’s one of the games I will always remember
Little did we know that season things in Scotland was going to change football wise and the Huns monopoly of winning trophies was going to end
I remember watching that in the Queen Vic (Aberdeen pub, not Dirty Den's gaff in the East End of Landan). Regi Blinker was starting to settle at Celtic and was tormenting Liverpool that night until he fell awkwardly and dislocated his shoulder. When Regi returned he never refound that form and became a bit of a joke figure amongst the support. Bear in mind that he was Wim Jansen's number 1 priority target to buy when he joined us.

I forgot how close it was to the final whistle when McManaman scored. It was totally gutting. He was a fantastic player, but is a crap pundit.

Remember it well, was there with my twin sis, 7 days before our 33rd birthdays
