First I've mentioned the game it's been such a disappointment though if im honest not overly surprising.
I thought ( rightly or wrongly) there was an air of complacency in the lead up to this game more than I can ever remember surrounding a Celtic final , the talk about BR becoming the first manager to win 3trebles and we really need only turn up Aberdeen are so poor.
That Rodgers didn't bat away such talk instantly surprised me , Aberdeen being so poor didn't and our starting xi didn't but our substitutions certainly did.
It was far too early for idah to go off he's shown time and again he needs very little supply and gets it even less yet still bangs in 20goals , Engels going off was another head scratcher.
These games aren't about the performance it's the result and at 1 up there was always the possibility it would go the distance and we needed those most likely to score on the field so I lay that at Rodgers door.
I'm not overly critical , that side shouldve won.
Aberdeen were poor , really poor but they played to their strengths or lack of , and credit Jimmy Thelin for biting the bullet and parking the bus having seen what going toe to toe with us does he recognised that and changed it, that's what a manager should do.
If ever a single game showed that we really need Taylor to stay but it's likely too late that was it, he was brilliant on the day and it's laughable that he moved into midfield given the midfielders we have.
Very disappointing ending but we are the double champions , this side have been brilliant so it's difficult to criticise too much but for me there were bad omens in the run up.
We move on and hopefully will add some real quality while retaining the quality we have in the window, still a huge opportunity missed the type that don't come around very often though recently for us they are frequent , hopefully get the chance again but it shows how consistent we've been and how difficult to achieve trebles are.
