Serie A VAR proves again why Scotland needs it.

Stoppage time between Juve and Sassuolo, Douglas Costa throws an elbow as he gets up after fouling a player, then throws a headbutt and bizzarely only gets booked for it. A moment later as play is being restarted after a goal, he squares up the same player and spits IN HIS MOUTH, ref misses it but the cameras didn't. Play is then stopped and Costa is sent off.

Referee didn't actually go over to look at a monitor, it was a VAR that spoke to him in his ear. Less than a minute between the ref not seeing the spit and Costa being sent off. A perfect example of how VAR needs to be used here.

But who makes the VAR decision? Would it be the same blokes on the appeal panel?

It would need to be like it was at the WC, where it is an actual referee that we can see (like how we can see the linesmen and the 4th official) and not some mystery man watching the game in the lodge.

In principle I agree with VAR if it truly is unbiased. But who all gets to talk down the ear pieces between the refs.

Still very open to conspiracy.

In my opinion all fraternity men should be forced to akowledge they subscribe to secret oaths and therefore would be ineligible to hold any position within Scottish football without extra explanation to clarify their regular odd decisions. If their odd decisions cannot be justified then boof out you go. Not fit for purpose or trustworthy when it comes to impartiality.

Accountability and transparency would go a long way to encourage sustainability. Secret oaths and clandestine operations do not.

Failure of RFC, and now spawn of RFC (Sevco), in a Nutshell

And it seems to be the same unaccountable untransparent men of honour who have adopted RFC stewardship system as their mantra. Hence they too have become, and probably always have been, an unfit for purpose operation- Its not compatible with sustainability in big money system which football has become.

VAR seems like a great system but in this country it would be run be a panel of ex refs and would just be a money maker for those ex refs to boast at after dinner speaking events how they cheated the Celtic

In Scotland we wouldn't be told who the VAR monitors would be. It would just give the mason on the park more protection to fuck us...the ref could put his blatant cheating down to "well I didn't see and VAR never called it" and the VAR monitors would be completely unaccountable....the SFA would find a way to completely fuck up a system that appears to work elsewhere
