Shaun Maloney

Maloney was a class player and probably the most exciting youngster in my generation anyway
Has good coaching experience
Can’t be a bad appointment
Maloney was a “good player”..maybe am way aff the mark but a always thought he was the type of player that would’ve easily signed for the hunz and not batted a eye🤷‍♂️…he’s a wee bit aloof…but a good player when called upon🍀

I thought he was very good especially when you think of the era he played in too when league was so much stronger than it is now 🍀and tv we haven’t had many exciting youngsters the past 30 years 😂

Maloney has some real credibility as a coach and in his management roles, not producing doesn't concern me regarding his appointment here , what I want to see is a return to our youth players making the grade at Celtic.
We've seen Kewell , Duff now O'Dea leave and we really need continuity in the project bringing kids through.
Great that other clubs want our guys but its a season or so then away it's no good for us we need to see more opportunities given.
The academy and B team must produce talent for Celtic first and £500k compensation fees second , those fees add up very well that most Scottish clubs wouldn't say no to but that sort of money is peanuts to Celtic now.
We have to have more vision and cohesion with the kids other than supplying decent professionals for other clubs.
The conveyor belt has stopped producing its been the odd cameos , squad inclusion ( bench) then not seen again for some time, it's been chaotic so hopefully Maloney can bring stability but I'm not holding my breath he's ambitious of course.
For now a decent appointment, time will tell if that's right or not but we really have to see more breakthroughs.

Is he coming back as a coach though?? I thought he was taking over that stupid pointless pathway position that O'Dea had?? Or have they created a new role for him?? Either way, another job for the boys by our useless fucking board. God forbid they might actually ask exciting coaches from Europe or further a field to send in their CVs....nah....fuck that, get the old Panini sticker book out, open the pages to Celtic and chuck a dart. Whoever it hits, we'll hire.

the 42-year-old is now back at Parkhead as "professional player pathway manager".

Celtic say the aim of the "hugely important" role is "developing the progression of players" at the club, and Maloney will work closely with Rodgers, head of football operations Paul Tisdale and the academy.

Maloney, who came through the Celtic ranks before playing more than 200 first-team games and winning five league titles, said: "It is a huge honour to be given this opportunity to return to Celtic, in a role which I am really passionate about.

"My aim will be to work really closely between our academy and the first team and create the very best opportunities for success, which will ultimately be represented by more and more players reaching our first team environment.

"I have been fortunate enough to follow this same pathway and I am now excited about ensuring many more young players can take this same journey."
