Shin Yamada, Callum Osmand & Hayato Inamura

I can't help wonder what future these 3 players have for Celtic? All signed this summer, but my question is why?Yamada is 25 years old. Japanese players tend to peak later but he is no spring chicken. Yamada was signed for 1.5 million and has been picked for Japan's national team, but he hasn't even made the Europa cup squad. Dismissed by Brenden before he has been given a chance. Have we wasted 1.5 million? He had minutes against Aberdeen, Livingston and Rangers. Will he get any further chance to prove himself? Somehow I doubt it and the way his Japanese colleague Innamura (23 years old) has been treated (he too is not in the Europa Squad) one must ask what was the point of these signings? Were they gambles gone wrong. Will Japanese players be more hesitant in the future given what is happening with these two. Callum Osmand is 19, same age as Donovan who has been a big revelation at right back.. What must Callum be thinking as he runs out onto pitches at places like Bonnyrigg, Boness and Tranent? My guess is when he signed he thought he would be in the first team squad, and now he is thinking he has made a big mistake signing for us. Which begs the questions, if these players are not good enough why sign them, and if they are signed for the future, when do they get a chance?

They highlight a dysfunctional recruitment model that has time and again failed us. You could just as easily listed Kwon, Odin Holm & Marco Tilio from 2 summers ago.
Good points you make and I agree. However it could be argued that Celtic have a highly successful recruitment model as regards trading? The problem seems to be they keep wasting money buying players that are never going to be up to standard and not replacing players in time for crucial European games.

In the last 10 years:

Yes, there has been a LOT of discussion on here over the years. I am confident our recruitment team have learnt from our past mistakes and we won't let this happen ever again.

I'll rejoin the discussion in the January Transfer Window. Expect 50 Shades to be really happy that this has kicked off again after suffering a whole summer of us moaning about it.

At least i cant blame Gary this time...🤣

I'm just chilling in the taxi anyhoo listening to Fleetwood and Mac spank the yanks at the Ryder Cup..😂

Nae point in getting upset about signings for the "future "...what annoys me is the fanfare when we get one of these guys in and the dugs in the street awe know they are B team players..

What annoys me is the managers surprise at these signings whether it's Rodgers, Ange or Lenny they're asked questions of the player and they cannot give much answers other than " we'll see how he does in training " it must be pretty embarrassing for a manager to have to respond with no info on the Player.
This happened recently regarding Innamura, and Rodgers saying he was surprised at his levels and he looked decent pre-season but he's not featured much since.

I think most would agree both Hatate and Maeda are not reaching anywhere near the form of previous seasons. Allegedly Maeda was on a promise to leave to a bigger league and estimates of commanding a 30 to 40 million fee were quoted. Understandably Maeda was not allowed to leave which may be the reason he is playing as if demotivated. But he also see's two of his countrymen Innamura and Yamada joining the club this season being harshly treated. There is no doubt our Japanese contingent will enjoy discussing things in their own language, and I believe Innamura and Yamada will not be too happy about being frozen out, not even making the Europa league squad. . Perhaps Hatate and Maeda see our club in a different light, a club that does not honor promises and is ruining their countrymen playing careers? In my opinion these two signings are totally fucked up and could have a detrimental effect, spreading a lot of disharmony in the first team dressing room. They could also spoil any more signings from the J-league for the future. If we are not going to play them, at least send them home so they can get back to playing football.

Osmand apparently rejected a loan move to a Championship club. Add that to Simpson-Pusey's alleged refusal to play for the B team and there's something seriously wrong with how we recruit players and the players we are recruiting
Simpson-Pusey is most likely the most talented player in our squad. He can play defensive midfield.

I believe Osmund was promised that if he signs for us he will be given a chance to play in the first team.

Play the Pusey Patrol, play Fein, Play Jackie, play Donny.

Who and what exactly, the fuck, is preventing them from getting a run in the first team/squad right now?

After last night's flat, aimless attempt at competing with an average European side from a decent league, there's no meritocracy in history that would exclude them as possibilities.

Rodgers can ram his giant ego and take the medicine, same as he has had to do watching Ange's players win him trophies while his own skelly signings run into trees.

Harshly treated or maybe no good enough?
